I would consider if I were the ducks. They’re so deep at centre already and michkov could easily become the 2nd best player from this draft.

If Montreal offered this maybe, doubt that the ducks want the 2nd overall pick playing in the same state as them.

The Blues almost certainly accept... but you'll need to hold while they move an LD out.

It’s probably arguable, which is fine, and definitely quantity over quality with the Timo trade being quantity. But I would take Fantilli over Timo in a heartbeat, and would value him more anyways

NJ will likely give up two late firsts, so that’s two prospects at approximately 52% nhler% and 8.8% star% (for picks 21-30), Shakir Mukhamadulin a top 25-30 prospect with an 87% NHLer% and 10% star%
Also gave up 5.5 GAR/1.9 xGAR in Fabian Zetterlund at the time of the trade. AJ and Nikita obviously not worth a ton of anything at the time of the trade, but Oki provided 1.1 GAR/0.6 xGAR after the move, and Mango was 0/-0.3 after

In the move for 2OA here (93% nhler% 34% star %), SJ is giving up late first rounder (52% nhler% and 8.8% star) a fringe prospect, and 8OA which is 78.4% nhler% 12.9% star%

I would equate Shakir+Zetterlund to about 8OA’s value
Obviously the late first is the same one given up by NJ
That leaves a B prospect being equal to AJ, the conditional 1st or 2nd, Oki, and whatever else NJ gave up

If Michkov is actually the 2nd best player in the draft, SJS should draft him. CHI and SJS are the two furthest teams from returning to contention right now before the draft. CHI gets Bedard to speed that up a bit but SJS will still be a ways away and waiting for Michkov to come over won’t hurt their ascent.

That’s an irrelevant question because we can have either. A last 1st, late 2nd, a cap dump, bottom sixer and a B prospect isn’t better than 4th overall, that late 1st and an A- prospect whose nhl ready

I mean, he’s a fine enough prospect. Probably a B, but definitely doesn’t belong a tier higher near guys like Rossi, Holtz or Hutson. that ceiling isn’t high enough, though he’s probably going to end up an NHL regular imo, especially with that SJ roster

This same logic would imply that Tye Kartye is at least an A minus prospect as well, with a rookie of the year win in juniors, and 28 AHL goals. He doesn’t belong in a discussion anywhere near Shane Wright though, or Thomas Bordeleau for that matter.

Values of prospects change since the time they're drafted. Holtz's value has since fallen off quite a bit. Bordeleau's stock has risen considerably. Bordeleau > Holtz at this stage. Same thing happened with Merkley, his value fell quite a bit (as did Kaut's, which is why the trade actually wasn't half-bad for both teams).

Rossi's a beast and don't think an A++ prospect like him belongs in this conversation.

Tbf I’m just going off of the most recent Athletic prospect rankings (February) and the NHLes (which aren’t out of date or an objective February ranking)

Those 3 were ranked
Hutson 17
Rossi 19
Holtz 22
Bordeleau was an honorable mention

NHLe model
Star%
Bordeleau 3% (120th in NHL)
Holtz 10% (46th)
Hutson 17%(28th)

NHLer%
Bordeleau 28% (143rd in the NHL)
Holtz 70% (54th)
Hutson 95% (16th)

Can’t find Rossi’s ranking, but he’s 74% Star and 87%nhler

You’re also higher on Rossi than most. I would also consider him an A+, but I don’t think NHL teams do right now. I love knowing there are still Rossi believers out there though 😂

With all that said though, I was definitely lower on Bordeleau than deserved, and I’m curious to see what the objective rankings; that aren’t just pure data, have to say about him after this year, because 22 goals for the guy is impressive. I would probably still have him as a B prospect regardless, but more of a solid B with upside than what I was thinking before as a fringe NHLer.

I wouldn’t agree he is a better prospect than Alex Holtz though, depending on what you value more maybe. The numbers speak for themselves above, but Holtz also had better AHL numbers when adjusting both for a full season. Though Bordeleau had stronger NHL numbers when adjusted for 82 games, Holtz was playing heavily sheltered minutes, when that is probably the worst way to develop him at that level.
Maybe both have top 6 upside though, so I understand valuing the center more when a team isn’t set down the middle. He’d definitely be the best center in the NJ pipeline
