Version 2
These are solid. Zuccarello is an upgrade the rangers need at forward and the value is maybe slightly skewed to Minny there.
Spurgeon is the guy the leafs keep thinking they’re trading for when they’re sending mid rounders for Lynushkin types. No way they do something that smart
The sharks move is probably the only one that’s off, and that’s only because no one really knows what the value of 1OA is in a trade anymore. That said, it’s closer than Josh Anderson for 1OA that we’re seeing here lmao

is trading for futures and delaying the timeline a better option
You aren’t going to get back equal or more for one year of Chychrun than you paid, and I doubt it goes any higher than the Hanafin move. That’s probably something closer to Bahl, conditional 3rd to 2nd, l2026 1st. Likely less since offseason deals historically aren’t as pricey as TDL moves

If Ullmark is only expected to fetch a 2nd and 3rd, you really need to lower your Markstrom expectations

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>It’s an easy equation. If it’s a late 2nd and 3rd, you keep him and let him choose where he wants to go in 2026. You aren’t cap constrained next year and the goalie rotation works. It also is a one year contract that allows for long term contract health</div></div>
The Bruins are cap constrained though lol. They’re like the league’s poster child for cap issues

If Ullmark is only going for a 1st at the absolute max, Markstrom isn’t fetching that kind of package

Triple 7s
Shinzawa just reported that a 1st may be too high of an ask for Ullmark, with 2nd+3rd being a speculated price for a pick that currently sits at 9OA, that’s one heck of a jump from a 2nd+3rd with the only add being Geekie isn’t going to be enough to bridge that value gap for a top 10 pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>I’ve said this to others.. Drury would expect a package that is double what you would pay. So to make it simple.. 2 mid 1sts minimum. Not to say he’s worth that. There is simply 1 GM that values him at this level and the other 31 don’t so there will never be a deal to be had.</div></div>
Bit if a disclaimer here, but I’m much higher on Kakko than the sect of fans that can’t look bast the jersey he’s wearing lol
Any reports of that ask? I’m just curious about that. It would probably be blasphemy for me to pay the price I would for him, but even I wouldn’t throw multiple firsts to NY for just Kakko. He’s a much better player than the box scores suggest, but it’s too much of a buyers market out there.
And like in that case keep him, with team control and all. but his ice time in NY baffles me

I’m very high on Casey, so this one is tough since I’d ideally like to see him involved in more of a splash like Saros or in a package for Swayman (who Boston shouldn’t move under any circumstance), but it’s also hard to not bite the bullet and move him here given the fresh wound that has been NJ goaltending lol

And while I agree the archtype is outdated, it still doesnt explain why NJD would acquire such a limited player as MacDermid, and I think you unmderestimate Deslauriers as a player, not just a goon.</div></div>
Any rando off the street can play a full hard shift. The similarity between a rando and Deslaurier is that shift will not benefit the team no matter how many times they hit someone

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>NJD just gave up a 7th and a midlevel prospect for a UFA fighter who's a 14th forward/7-8th dman simply becauise they have a need. Deslauriers plays a regular shift, solid vet, one of leagues toughest, not to mention PK time.
A 4th TWO drafts away and a 5th THREE drafts away have pretty little chance to make the team, and certainly NJD have some pressures to succeed and phsyically compete against the Hathaways/Deslauriers/Rempes now, so future middling picks with little/no chance of helping them is worth what?</div></div>
A 7th and a 23 year old 7th rounder isn’t the same as a 4th and 5th for a guy that costs 1 million more in AAV to play himself into the same place MacDermid did. The press box.
And they can still find the same kind of player in UFA at an NHL minimum, instead of taking on an overpaid player who’s archetype is out dated

Any team can find a Nicolas Despairiers for an NHL minimum in UFA, and probably a better version of him too, without giving up mid round picks

Unretained, that Graves contract is going to take Jarry value just to get a team to take Graves back. Retention makes that worth a 3rd at best
Graves has negative value, and Jarry is definitely less valuable than you think.

Holtz, Bahl, Casey, Top-10 overall, 2025 1st.
If Boston wants to play games, there are other goalies to go and get (Saros, Jarry, Markstrom)</div></div>
Obviously those pieces are ideal to move, but if Mercer is the ask I would prefer the team bites the bullet and brings in Ullmark. Would think he would be included in a Saros deal as well. But a player like Mercer shouldn’t be untouchable for the highest level goalies in Saros/Ullmark

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Take off the rose colored glasses. You all act like he's an elite center when he's not even a top 6. He might develop into a top 6 eventually but so might a whole of other players around the legaue and if Mercer does manage that it sure as hell won't be in NJ. Exactly like Zacha and Sharangovich.
Heck even Eric Huala seems to be ahead of Mercer on the center depth chart now, Huala has been playing 2nd line center while they experiment with Hughes on the wing with Hischier. Mercer has been relegated 3rd line winger. Once again that's exactly like Zacha and Sharangovich before him. But according to NJ fans Mercer is a superstar worth his weight in gold. LOL</div></div>
You’re making up how much I like Dawson Mercer. I actually agree that he’s overhyped, although you’re downplaying him *almost* as much as too many NJ fans overhype him
Its easy to include him in a move for a goalie like Saros, and a bit tougher to include him for a goalie like Ullmark, but a deal I would still be okay seeing done. https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/817587?post_id=4789426
Markstrom isn’t that valuable though. He’s an up and down almost 35 year old goaltender, who’s lows kill a team. There are better options than Markstrom, and the goalie market doesn’t justify that high of a price for him regardless.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>NJ fans need to give it a rest and stop acting like Mercer is worth his weight in gold. It'd take more than just Mercer he isn't worth a number 1 goalie all by himself. Really nothing about those negotiations has been confirmed except that Calgary initially told NJ that Markstrom would cost them Mercer. IOW any offer had to start with Mercer.
Nemec was mentioned too but that was a bit later and probably more of an off the cuff "If you won't trade Mercer then how about Nemec? No? Ok bye!" than anything seriously discussed. Calgary probably would have either done the 50% retention NJ wanted or added something pretty nice maybe even both in a trade for Nemec. An elite RD prospect is worth a lot more than a 3rd line center/winger with good middle 6 potential.
Mercer is another Zacha / Sharangovich only less productive than either on a supposedly better team. Zacha (the best of the three) got them Huala, Sharangovich + a 3rd got them Toffoli (who NJ has already traded away), Mercer isn't going to fetch more than both. There's no room for him at center, he's bounced all over the lineup and will more than likely be traded within a year or two just like Zacha and Sharky before him were.</div></div>
I can also make things up
