Here are the top 10 all-sitation xG differential games so far in these playoffs. Last nights TOR vs. FLA game featured the 2nd largest differential. The Leafs game would be the "worst" loss for a team in the playoffs so far, in the sense that the team who generated far better chances lost the game.
If you played that game ten times TOR is wining 9 of them. There was a ton to like if you are a Leaf fan after watching how they performed against TBL, like night and day. If Bobrovsky continues to rock a +.944 save percentage throughout the Series, well you tip your hat and move on.
Agree with a lot, maybe this sums up my feelings better:
When I hear florida talking about the series they mostly talk about what they are going to do, how they are going to set the tone.
When I hear Toronto talking about the series they seem to talk a lot about how to defend against, for example, Matthew Tkachuk, or the physicality.
Toronto should be telling Florida how to play, Florida’s D should be stretched back and confused in their zone. Floridas wingers should be afraid to overcommit.
Florida should be worried about how they will contain Mitch Marner, auston matthews, Toronto’s depth with Ory as the 3C, etc. But they don’t care really, their answer is consistently [yeah they’re skilled guys we’re going to play our game.]
Toronto needs to know they’re going to win. It feels like they want to find the exact method that gives the best chance at winning on paper. Toronto is better, deeper, faster, and more physical (if you exclude Matt Tkachuk who is just different).
