Description
Explanation:

Edmonton - This trade gives them cheap depth at forward and a playoff type defenceman while removing cap. Ill admit I dont know Petrov's depth so the picks can be adjusted accordingly

Rangers - Over the next 2 seasons the Rangers are going to find themselves in tough spot cap wise with Laf and Miller needing new contracts at the end of this year. Kakko is arguably the weakest link of the kid line with .5 PPG at 22 years old. This is very much like the Dach trade in the sense that futures are given up in return for a potentially high return player. Evans and Pezzeta are good forward depth and the Calgary pick could land in the top 15 if their woes continue.

Pittsburgh - As long as Crosby & co are there they will be in win now mode. Carter wont help them with that and lets not forget that Dvorak was a very good 2 way center as recently as last year so this year can be seen as a down year. Poulin is also very boom or bust it seems with poor AHL production at 22 years old.

btw can we start having habs trades that involve teams other than the jets again?

For what feels like the millionth time, EDM has no use for Edmunson as all of Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak, and Broberg are better LD. Further, Foegele is a player I aim to avoid moving; an important piece to a well-functioning bottom-6.

You know he doesn't understand you ? Habs fans will keep sending Edmundson to EDM until he gets traded elsewhere

Pass on the Edmonton trade, if Habs trade Eddy it's just for picks at the TDL

That's an overpay for Kakko

I'd take that Dvorak trade, don't know if the new GM in Pit will though as they should be prioritizing speed and Dvorak is not fast

LMAO what are you talking about. Foegele is a cap dump. They have to make cap decisions with about 10M in room and a roster of 14 players signed, Bouchard contract to sign and Ylonen is a quality NHL bottom 6 at a much cheaper price plus a pick plus a cheap top4. Go away homer.

Montreal wont do this trade as it gives them nothing tho

Agreed. Calgary pick can be high as number 2 overall. They wont even trade that pick for kakko trade up much less give more assets.

As far as the OP saying lets talk more than PLD and the Jets (yes i read your comments unlike most lol)

I'd say maybe on trades other than the Jets cause most of the times the trades simply arent interesting. Its fascinating to see so many fans from other teams weigh in like they know better than Habs/jets fans.

The best sort of intelligence is knowing that most decisions we make are based on emotion and our perception. if you learn how to learn then you are on the road. One aspect of this is to be aware that you don't know much and use the strengths of others to get the result for you. The most successful people in life are the ones who listen and learn from others mistakes. its impossible to know everything and be the best in all fields so you master communication skills and build relationships to use others skills and research what you need only. Too many people are too proud and some of the smartest people don't want to use others as they have built their identity around their IQ intelligence..... i see it every ****ing day. clever fools

NYR declines. Pezetta would be an AHL player for us (no value). Evans is a bottom line center, no use. So basically it would be a 2025 1st round pick. Kakko is getting into his own (finally), and really turned a page in his game this season proving why he went #2. Also we won't give you guys a top 6 RW (you placed him there) for what is essentially nothing.

Wow, you're an embarrassment. Foegele is most certainly not a cap dump, he scored at a 1st line rate while being paid like a 3rd liner this season. He's exactly the type Tampa overpays for. Ylonen is not an adequate replacement, he's not physical, doesn't win many board battles and doesn't go to the net.

As @SupremeBone already pointed out, Edmonton has no need for Edmundson as they already have 4 better LHD signed for next season.

It's simply a bad trade for Edmonton, whether you can admit it or not.

I dont get the Mtl trade at all from the Habs side (forget the Oilers homers, these guys think Yamo is more valuable than Kakko, couldnt find the thread again but its out there)

Why is Mtl trading for Foegele and giving away assets? I dont see the point on a rebuilding club unless you think Foegele helps them make a run?

-Both sides pass on the first trade. Edmonton doesn't need Edmundson, and if the Habs are trading Eddy they should try to do so in a deal where they're not adding picks/prospects.

-Interesting concept but again, I don't think either side would benefit from this trade. The Rangers need top-6 bodies next year - guys like Pezzetta & Evans are usually freely available in UFA. And if I'm Montreal, I hang onto that 2025 1st rounder for now - teams are going to discount its value because of the distance from being able to use it + the conditional nature of it, so keep it in your pocket until you have a better idea when it might be necessary. I'd also say that the Habs might be a good bet to be back to contention in 2024-25, so having an extra 1st rounder to play around with at that deadline feels more valuable than adding another young winger to a team with a decent pipeline of them.

-I don't think Carter waives for Montreal, but this is the type of trade the Habs should be making this summer. Dvorak should be dangled out there for older, similarly-paid players to see if a contender wants to swap out for a younger model while also including a prospect and/or a pick.

If NYR is willing to part ways with one young RW, I would pay the extra to get Lafrenière over Kakko.
Unfortunately, I also don't think MTL is willing to trade anything NYR would want in exchange (prob MTL's 2023 1st)

If NY is unable to move Panarin, I think Lafreniere is the one traded of the 3. Chytil just signed 4 yrs and Kaako has a very big boy game and getting better. He will get to net front presence like Kreider soon. I like that Lafreniere plays a hard 2 way game for NY. I don't think he's the line driving Superstar you hope for at #1 overall, but he very talented and can play on top line with the very best.

Just not a fan of his and would rather take a chance on Calgary's down fall. Aging core, major FAs to resign before that year and will likely be adjusting to a new coach around that time. All of those are recipes for disaster and MTL could cash in big with that pick.

I doubt they trade Laffy, but one reason they may consider it as well is Othmann is a LW too and may be able to replace him IF they can get a very good return for him in a trade. No chance Drury moves Laffy for anything less than top notch return.

It doesn't take from the fact that NYR will be in cap hell for the next 2 seasons so ideally they move someone. They wont get a top 5 pick for Laf or kakko, they haven't shown they are worth that. All other players on the roster seem a bit too immovable or with too little cap to make a difference
