My take for the offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Of the Jets forward prospects, Lambert is probably ranked #1 or 2, Lucius is likely #4 or 5 even with the amount of injury troubles he's had.
The Jets have Salomonsson as a promising top 4 RHD prospect, two more RHD prospects on the Moose in Lundmark and Bauer who are probably just 3rd pair guys if they make it.
I assume they'll be extending DeMelo or Pionk and see Lambert as a possible 2C in the future so doubt this would interest them.</div></div>
I thought Lucius would be higher ranked than Lambert tbh, my aim for the trade was Barron for probably WPG's 4-5th best prospect, around that range, so maybe Lucius is more sensible?

My take for the offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lafleur10</b></div><div>Trade by trade:
Anderson is not worth a first, if he ever was, he's not anymore. Just based on what I understand about Hughes' style of trading players in and out, Anderson will get dealt 2-3 years from now, when we can retain half of his contract and not have that take up a retention slot for a quarter to half a decade, and that's if he can bounce back from this year and put up some points going forward.
Ylonen trade is fine in my opinion, unfortunately his days in Montreal are numbered. He haven't panned out the way you'd hope for a second round pick, moving him to another club makes a lot of sense.
Harris however is kinda the opposite of Ylonen, where he has panned out and established himself in the NHL, but his time in Montreal is coming to an end because we're too stacked at LHD, not because he's not performing well. He was a third round pick to begin with, he's worth a late second by himself, no extra pick necessary.
Barron still has time, and it's a little unfair to Harris to say that, but it is what it is. Montreal's depth at RHD is still so bad even after drafting Reinbacher that we actively can not afford to be shipping out RHD prospects. Just the trade by itself I think the value is fine, Jets fans probably disagree, but I don't see a world where Montreal trades Barron, unless they plan on drafting another RHD at 4-10 this year... Please dear god do not draft another D at 4-10 this year.</div></div>
I agree with you on Anderson, he probably replaces where I put toffoli on next year's roster. Honestly, I just want Toff back but realistically that probably wont happen and we'll get at least one more year of Anderson. Kent isnt against retaining for 2 years if it means return
Where I don't fully agree is Barron. Yes he still has time but where I think he is expendable is his role. Mailloux is coming up strong and he is offensively minded, Reinbacher is supposed to be a good 2 way D and we still have Savard and Kovacevic signed. In addition, on the left side we have Matheson and Hutson also coming up. We can only play so many Offensively minded D and I unfortunately think that Barron is the most expendable of the lot. If we trade him we still have 4 RD, 2 who can definitely play in the NHL and that is without counting LD who can also play RD.
I think Barron should be traded now while his value is still high and his perceived potential is still up in the air. He can very easily live up to that but I think we just have better prospects in the system

The Habs' main issue is the lack of high end talent. They probably aquire another one at the draft this year like you said but that might not be enough, especially since they want to start being in the playoff race next year.

MTL probably doesn't accept the first trade, too much to pay for too little return, Savard is more valuable to the team than that
Second trade I'd say fits both teams needs but Rangers fans will probably say ''add your unprotected first to that and maybe''
and then lastly we need to stop with the Campbell trades, its not happening

If COL is smart they stay in a different time zone than Monahan, did the experiment with the slow bigger center not prove to be a failure already? Why double down on a similar guy getting 1/3 of his production on the power play getting 18+ minutes in ice time neither of which he gets in COL and oh yeah he gets crushed in 5v5 shot share. I can’t think of a center COL should avoid more.</div></div>
Also keep in mind who Monahan plays with on the PP vs at 5v5. Playing with MTL's top players is a big difference to playing with Pearson and Armia

Fair enough, as an outside fan I guess Im overvaluing Ryan Johansen and undervaluing Byram. My thinking was that Johansen can be flipped 50% next year and bring some assets back while Byram seems to not have met expectations and a 2/3 C + a young versatile D seemed to be equivalent. My bad

Is it that hard to imagine that exact type of player getting a 1st and a 5th back at 1.75mil? For 1 more year on top of it mind you

Habs pass purely due to the retention on Anderson. If you want full price Andy and retained Mony for a 1st though?

I don't think the Habs have any interest in that. Pezz isn't getting traded, the return wouldn't be worth what he brings to the team. And Ylonen, although I agree he needs a change of scenery is worth more than that

That's not a 1st so Caps aren't paying that. Even on top of that they are loaded at center (Strome, McM, Kuz, Dowd with Lapierre playing as well). They aren't moving a 1st unless it involves a young top 6 player.</div></div>
He's not a 1C for sure but youd be very wrong to call him a 3C at best. Middle 6 maybe. Also all these centers can play the wings, like Mony can
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>I, too, look at the Washington capitals and say “this team is a Sean Monahan away from winning another cup.”
Come on, dude.</div></div>
Its not about him being the tipping point to the cup, its about him being a piece which helps give the caps a chance. He is still a very effective player, he carries every line he is on for the habs and his production has been very good considering his most common linemates are Pearson and Gally. He also brings face off wins (caps currently ranked 30th in FOW%) which you need if you want to get anywhere.
Now a 1st might be much, fine, all fans overvalue their players. A middle ground could be a 2nd though?

As long as the Caps have Ovi their objective will be the cup, a young top 6F does not have the immediate impact needed to help them do that, and if they do the price will be too steep to pay
