I don’t think there has ever been a series where the refs have have decided more than 1 game.

Blaming the refs only gets you so far, they might be bad but in a 7 game series, good teams find ways to overcome "bad reffing"

Every series the isles have lost in the past 5 years has nothing to do with the refs, this series there has been 6-8 calls that would never be called by an average ref. Hard to go against that

I see the vision behind the move to bring him to the island. 8 years possibly next to Barzal is a long time to figure things out and form chemistry. He still has room to "grow" and become another veteran leader on that team. Improve even more as a defensive center. He needs to find his scoring touch consistently for the future. I think he's a good compliment to Barzy. Hardnose and is a scorer who Barzal can set up. As of right now and after the isles are eliminated, everyone will be calling for Lou's jugular. 8.5 is a TON of money when you have had the performance you've had this year. But let's not jump the gun. Lots of time for him to prove he's worth that money. I think you wait until the end of next season or 2 seasons from now to make a real judgement on if the Horvat "experiment" has been a success or a failure.

The isles aren't in a position to rebuild or even do a major retool. You've got a group that has been together for a very long time and basically the entire roster is guys who are starting to, or have already turned a corner. Apart from maybe swapping out a couple guys on the roster, I can't see this team being much different the next 2 years. And that isn't a slight to them. There is still a lot of reasons to like the Islanders odds the next couple years IMO. They just need to get a deeper blueline, scoring depth, and find someone who can actually take the game over so it doesn't continue to feel like Barzal vs the world.

The issue is barzal is a better two way center and is just better suited for the position in general. Acquiring Horvat pushed Barzal to wing where he doesn’t have the puck on his stick as much.

Vancouver easily. JT Miller has shown passion, and wants to stay in Vancouver. Horvat on the other hand is clearly perfectly fine with going to another mediocre team. Miller has the higher upside and is the more consistent point producer. Both are pretty bad defensively so no comparison needed there. Furthermore, Miller is 0.5 mil cheaper with 1 year less on his contract. I like Horvat a lot, but the Canucks didn't really do anything during his time here. Miller has better leadership qualities than Horvat's bland "obviously" and "this is unacceptable" NPC like reponses after each game
