I’ve never seen anything like it - they called a penalty on Pulock with 5 min to go in the 3rd and 5 min into OT they miss 2 calls on the canes. It’s insane that 2 refs were looking right at Mayfield and just decided to let it go lol it’s absurd. Probably the worst called game in NHL playoff history. The game was called like they had a make a wish event and had fans at PNC arena fill in for a game.

It appeared to me he was expecting the defender to be closer and not as low. Obviously he caught only the head, was in the wrong, deserved the 5 min.

But there have been predatory hits that got less. This to me wasn’t predatory. Atleast the lengthy suspension likely removes any need for retaliatory acts, can just have good hockey.

I don't agree with LA being the best team they will face, but I will partially agree with you on this front. I haven't been able to watch games 1 or 2 apart from the highlights so I can't give an accurate analysis. But in the regular season, LA seemed like one of the only teams in the league who could figure out how to play the oilers in the neutral zone. a deep 1-3-1 with the front forward at the red line and 3 on their own blue line. I watched it work countless times this year and they effectively slowed down all of EDMs speed entering the zone. That I think is the biggest thing you have to do against Edmonton because if you fail at that, they will burn you relentlessly. They obviously have more to their game than just flying in off the rush, but slowing down Connor, their rush, and their ability to possess the puck as they enter the zone is major. A lot tougher (for the most part) to start and maintain offensive zone time when you have to forecheck and retrieve the puck, versus when you have possession crossing the blue line.
