Dude, my opinion is based on
1) Toronto's track record (no 2nd round win in 20 years)
2) TB's line up (let me know which position Toronto is stronger. I'll wait)
3) Dubas won't be renewed without at least making it to the eastern conference final
4) Toronto's draft assets are weak ( 6/8 of the 1st and 2nd are gone in the next 4 years) and prospect pool is in the last tier of the league.
5) Matthews hitting free agency in 2024

Those are all facts and they lead to only one place: Long rebuild.

I voted fair trade because the Maple Leafs (and their fanbase) got the two players they wanted and the Black Hawks got the first they wanted for McCabe and the second they wanted for Lafferty. The only thing that would tip the decision one way or the other is that the first is in 2025, which gives Toronto the slight edge.

Anderson was on waivers last week. If Chicago wanted him for nothing, they could have signed him. Chicago's eating over 4 mil in contract considering McCabe has 2+ years left on contract. Dubas stuck it to ya. The pros are that u at least get the first round pick a couple of years from now. I gotta' give it to Toronto, except for that first round pick. And seeing as Mr Poile is retiring in Nashville, I have to mention where Mr Sakic was selected. he he he.

Big DUBS for Toronto. What do they need distant 1sts and 2nds for? McCabe is a very good and underrated defenseman. He's gonna be great in Toronto. Lafferty provides more grit and is a very hardworking player. Toronto, NJD, Boston in the East is gonna be insane
