2nd best D on the market for the Islanders or league-wide?

The whole LD, RD thing depending on Handness is really overated imo, If your a good skater you can play both some actually find they prefer the Right side.

I don't completely disagree they could use a shutdown D to Pair with moreso Chabot but I don't think there is really a DFD RD on the market other than Murphy or Jensen who are both 30+ next season. I also believe either Chabot or Sanderson could move to the other side.

NSH made Fabbro available and hes been a nice 2nd pair shutdown RD before this year

Doesn’t it simply have to do with having the strong side on their forehand for passing, especially lateral passes? If you’re on the “wrong” side then you’d have to backhand to your defense partner or winger.

I do agree it’s probably overblown though.

Aho always been good. He just never got a fair shot. It doesn’t matter what his TOI is, he’s been the best isles D by far. His relative numbers are great and he passes the eye test

Yea I'd still put Aho in the below average category./bad.. Just because his charts are blue in a small sample size doesnt make him good...

Considering he's a 3rd pair Dman at best that technically means he's below average in terms of DMan. He plays favorable minutes, and has good analytics in a SMALL sample size.

Islanders are 5-2-2 since the Horvat trade and are looking like they'll make it. Trade was well worth it thus far.

that's not how this works man. He does not play favorable minutes, he plays against opposing team top 6 , he just doesn't get much time on special teams. 56 games is a pretty good sample size to say he's been very good this season.

Karlsson, Ekholm, Orlov, Jensen, Chychrun, McCabe are all options I'd consider better adds.

Aho faces above average competition this season. Even if you use basic counting stats and on ice stats, he is much better than a 3rd pair D this season.
