While McCabe does fit a lot of the bill for what the sens are looking for, he does play RD, has term at a good cap hit, and is a decent defensive D man that could be a good pairing for Sanderson.

I think his age might place him outside their window and the fact that the Sens really don't like playing D on their offside (or Branstrom would get more ice time) holds the sens back from making this deal.

Yeah but that’s just to fit domi as it is. The devils have plenty of self rentals as it is. Johnsson has been helping tremendously in the A and helping Utica make a push for playoffs. Sure he’s still a cap dump but I can’t see the Devils trading him as one. Devils aren’t good enough to be trading 1st round picks anyway.
