Walker not an upgrade on Holl, Leafs pass

I hate being a wet blanket, but whenever I see these I always have to ask: if Toronto wanted Sean Walker, why wouldn't they offer that package directly to the Kings? Or if the Islanders really wanted a 4th RHD, why wouldn't they offer those picks to Toronto instead of a division rival?

And beyond that - why is a playoff contender like the Kings trading two guys from their blueline for one? Provorov might be an upgrade over Durzi, sure, but now they also have to fill a hole on their third pair with an AHL callup. And for the Leafs, why would they trade a solid player in Holl that's getting 20+ minutes a night on the second best defense in the league for a guy that can't crack 15 minutes a night on one of the worst? Shouldn't contending teams be adding to their depth?

Kings aren't giving up that much for Provorov. That's too much even for Chychrun who is younger, cheaper, and better than Provorov. Drop any one of Durzi, Turcotte, or the 1st and the Kings would consider it.

In our current cap situation, we can't absorb the majority of Provorov's cap hit. You'd have to retain 50% or else take Cal Petersen in place of Sean Durzi.
