let's get Sean Monahan back on the ice before we start throwing him in deals for top prospects or 2023 1sts. right now he hasn't played in a month, i can't really see teams beating down the door to add a guy with his injury history that's hurt again.

It’s a minor injury, he’s netting us a 1st minimum.

Morrow is breaking Cale Makar's UMass records... and that 2nd round pick? Was a consensus 1st rounder that couldn't play in his draft year due to the pandemic so he fell. Do some research please

Yeah so is Lane Hutson.. Lane Hutson for Svechnikov please.

Are you thinking clearly? You think Winnipeg gets a better deal than this at the deadline? This is a 1st round pick (likely around 10th overall) in one of the best drafts we’ve ever seen, a middle 6 C and a B prospect. They will not get a better deal than that for a rental.

You're not offering a middle 6 center. You're offering a low end bottom 6 center, a 4C for Winnipeg, that is overpaid and not needed and a C level LD prospect that is again not needed and therefore hold no value to Winnipeg.

So, the only piece of any value is the first which is easily beaten at the TDL.

It's hilarious that you firmly believe Monahan as an inferior rental will return a first minimum and that a vastly superior player than him that isn't a rental will return a first alone if he's lucky. Double standard?

I know, it’s crazy right, can’t believe I compared a 30 goal scorer to a 50 goal scorer. Hey I remember your GM saying you guys don’t have a pure goal scorer, you could really use Caufield. Instead you guys traded for Pacioretty who disappears in the playoffs.

A very likely top 10 pick in the best draft we’ve seen in years is easily beaten at the deadline? That pick is worth more than 3 late 1st round picks.. that is the only thing of value most contenders have to offer, picks in the 20’s who have at best a 20% chance at even becoming nhlers, and even then they are likely bottom sixers. The unfortunate truth is that Dubois will not net the return Jets fans think he will.

Yes, it will be beaten because while the pick will be lower there will be a better player/prospect attached to it. Magic beans aren't sure things.

The fortunate thing is Dubois will not be given away for nothing like Montreal fans think he will.

Interesting you call Svech a 30 goal scorer (he's on pace for 41) and call Caufield a 50 goal scorer (He's on pace for 47). More Montreal bias huh? Not to mention, Svech is bigger, better passer, and a power forward. Just stop it buddy tears of joy

Give me an example. You realize contenders (the teams that would be interested in Dubois at the deadline) almost never have top prospects because they typically draft later in rounds. Give me an example of the teams and their top prospects that you think will be had in a Dubois trade.

Look at what Chiarot got at last years TDL. A 1st, a 4th and a C prospect as a pure rental which is more than you are offering for a full year of a superior player.

Please provide an example of a young 1C being given away for as little as you are offering.

Svechnikov wil return to his career average of 25-30 goals. He’s on a hot streak recently and will cool down. This is just who Caufield is. And he’s doing it with a terrible power play, most of his goals at even strength. He likely scores 60 goals at some point.

The same Cole Caufield who had 2 goals through 60 games last season? Svechnikov is only 10 months older than Caufield. Could say Caufield is on a hat trick and he'll just return to his career average. Svechnikov's shot has been elite going back to his days in Barrie. But you know, can't disprove your narratives can I?

No Svechnikov has multiple years of production as evidence. Since the 20 games you’re referring to Caufield has been on a 50 goal pace. And this isn’t supposed to be a Svechnikov vs Caufield debate. The point is you’re bringing up a prospect and an established star in the same breath.. it’s nonsense. Would the Canes trade Morrow for a rental? Most likely not, but we established that earlier in the thread.

Caufield has multiple years of evidence. Look at how bad he was last year, look at the year before when he wasn't a 30 goal scorer. He could go cold, just as he has done in years past. It's just as likely as Svechnikov doing it.

No it’s not because Caufield has one of the best releases, accuracy, power, deception and overall shot in the entire league, he’s a pure goal scorer. Svechnikov is not. Caufield broke Matthews goal record as a prospect and tied Ovechkin’s goal record at the world juniors. This is just who he is.

Svechnikov's release, power, and overall shot is arguably better???? Svechnikov's got a NASTY shot. His shooting percentage from high-danger areas is one of the best in hockey. Svechnikov is as pure a goal scorer as Caufield, and he plays every other aspect of the game better. Get your head out of the clouds here

Have the Canes ever walked into the deadline with such a glaring hole like the one they have at 2c this year?

I guess every 2C is supposed to play a high end offensive game and not be useful defensively. What did I say about cookie cutter comparisons? Just like Horvat, Monahan is a terrible fit for Carolina. Their defensive games suck, and in a defense first system like Carolina, they would fail. You look at everyone the Canes have played at C this year (Aho, Stastny, KK, Staal, Necas, Jarvis, Stepan, and Drury), they all have at least an above average defensive game, with guys like Aho, KK, and Staal having elite defensive games. That’s all before talking about Monahan’s inability to stay healthy. He hasn’t played in what, a month, and you are wanting a top prospect and/or 2023 first rounder? I get you and a lot of other fans want to deny reality and live in a world of your own delusions, but don’t drag the people who actually give a crap about reality into your delusions.

Now as for your original comment, what issue do they have at 2C? They were able to win 11 games in a row and have a point streak of 17 games where they went 15-0-2, with a huge chunk of that without key players like Aho and even Skjei for a game. Stastny and KK don’t produce enough offensively, yes, but that isn’t why they were brought in. So, since you clearly don’t understand the Canes system, are you a KK/Stastny hater or a troll just looking to catfish Canes fans into a fight? Because this narrative has gotten old, and I know I’m not the only Canes fan on here who is sick of it.

At the time of the Chiarot deal that 1st was unknown. They traded it thinking it would be a late 1st. Had they have known it would be this high they obviously wouldn’t have traded it lol… We’re trading it knowing what the pick is and that’s likely around 10th overall (right now I believe it’s 8th overall)

Dubois is not simply a young 1c being traded away. You’re sayi they will trade him as a rental. If the team acquiring him doesn’t believe he will re-sign then they’re not going to give up a ton.. he will be your typically deadline trade for a high end player. Usually a late 1st and a couple B prospects (considering contenders rarely have A prospects). That Florida pick itself is equivalent to an A prospect. This is way more than any contender will offer for a rental.

Monahan is just as good defensively as everyone you’ve mentioned outside of Staal. (kK is not elite at enything lol) he’s a 4th line centre, 3rd at best. Drury is inexperienced, Stastny is like 35 and washed. You’re talking about the regular season right now, They need to start doing something, anything in the playoffs.. If you believe they will do almost nothing at the deadline again then fine, I’m sure they’ll get bounced early again.

As for Monahan, this injury has nothing to do with any past injury. It’s minor, he’s fine.

I gave you a specific example of a deal that is more than what you are offering for a lesser player with a shorter term of team control.

Once again, please provide an actual example of one year of a player similar to Dubois being traded for what you are offering or less.

I've given actual factual evidence to support my opinion, I'm asking you to do the same to support your opinion.
