If it's anyone but Pettersson, here are the asks IMO (I'm not advocating for any of them, nor am I saying the Canucks do all of them together; each deal should be considered in a vacuum).
New Jersey - the money doesn't work, but that's not our problem. You want us to take salary back, the '24 pick becomes a first. Quinn is an elite player that is difficult for any team to acquire, so the ask is a premium. If the Canucks do put him on the block, the bidding will just drive up the ask. You want to unite the Hughes, this is the cost.
Ottawa - the Sens do much better in the short term with this deal than the Canucks do, as they are better equipped to absorb the loss of Pinto than the Canucks are to lose Demko. With the pick unprotected, the Canucks are gambling that they'll come away better over the long term.
Montreal - this is not a deal I'd want to do, but the Habs get the player they'd hoped they were getting in Anderson. The Canucks roll the dice on Barron and take the pick for taking back Anderson in the deal.
NY Islanders - Boeser is producing at a higher rate than Beauvillier, hence the pick.
Boston / Arizona - obviously a three team deal. That's a good deal for the Bruins. It's sliding towards quantity over quality for the Coyotes, and I'm not sure Chychrun will agree to go the Canucks, Sens or Panthers in the end, since none are contending any time soon, but the return is still a pretty tidy haul for a rebuilding team.
Toronto - This is fair market value for a contending team. The Canucks would rather extend Schenn, and I would expect every contending team to enquire on him, so this is the ask.
Again, I'm not saying they do all of these deals together, I'm just establishing the expected value in return for their core players.
Conditional - if the Leafs qualify for the Conference Final, the pick is the 2023 first round pick. If they fail to qualify for the Conference Finals, the pick becomes their first round pick in 2024.
I wouldn’t trade Bailey for Boeser if you gave the isles a second. Not only are are asking for Beauvillier who is better than Boeser and is on a reasonable contract, but you also want a second round pick? For a guy who is a literal line killer?
I appreciate the time you took, and the detailed explanations for each proposal.
Think - like a lot of fans of underperforming teams - you are over estimating value of your own players. As a Leafs fan I am a big Dubas backer but i would lead the charge to have him fired if he ever traded a 1st for Schenn, a truly preposterous trade proposal.
The Devils don’t want to unite the Hughes bros though. Not when you’re treating a player who wouldn’t even be our best D like he’s a generational talent
NJ response keep him.
Ottawa Demko is playing like s***. Forsberg has been playing extremely well and on a very team Friendly contract. Certainly not adding an unprotected 23 first.
Can't see Montreal bailing you out of that Miller mistake.. Anderson is a bad contract but adding Barron and Florida's first (which is looking 8-12 range isn't happening.
Don't see Horvat signing that which means Boston says no.
AZ says yes you will have to replace the Boston pick with a first somehow.
Not a chance in hell Schenn gets a first

Some Canucks fans forget that retooling isn’t a one way street, and we’re all happy watching them be too good for a top pick, and too bad for the playoffs with these asks 😂

Hughes is the player you hope Nemec becomes... Remove Mercer and its a fair trade unlike literally the rest of them
Or the Devils already have Siegenthaler signed AND a LHD named LUKE Hughes in the wings, who lines up to be what Quinn is....so why would the Devils load so much into a LHD?
Not sure what's worse in that montreal trade, the ridiculous ask or the description
Anderson is a nothing player making ridiculous 5.5 a year for 5 years. Has to be the worst contact in the entire league. So yeah I wouldn't if I was VAN.
