Description
Try to not bite my head off too quickly, just gauging interest after having a thought. Idk that something like this could ever occur but just looking for opinions to be sure.
Transactions
MTL
  1. Marino, John
Détails additionnels:
Is there any way a trade based on this could occur?
NJD
  1. Anderson, Josh
Détails additionnels:
Is there any way a trade based on this could occur?

Yes, I know NJD fans hate this idea. Just gauging interest to see how far off these 2 are and what would have to be included to make it happen.

I think this could happen, but MTL would want picks and/or prospects to balance this idea out.

No, Severson is the More Likely player out. Marino was brought in to replace Sevo and be there a long time, He has also been very good for them

Never gonna happen. He's having an incredible season. They won 13 in a row and he was a big part of that. He may be movable in the offseason for a ridiculous price, but he's not touchable this year where it looks like they can make a deep run.

What would have to happen to make a Severson/Anderson trade happen in your opinion?

If it were me I would be looking at Alexander Holtz and a 3rd RD for Anderson. Holtz has upside for sure, however, they are pretty set on the Right side with players of his style of hockey, the thing Jersey is missing is the Sandpaper, someone who hits plays hard and will fight. Mercer Brett and Bastian arent that type of player. Maybe thats why the interest in Anderson. So if it were me I would Holtz is who I would target.

What lmao, NJ has zero reason to make this trade and that's an insane overpay by NJ, Anderson is a dime a dozen and isn't worth much.

I hope you're kidding, I really do. You are not getting an A prospect in any scenario for a third/fourth line grinder. Max you end up with is a second rounder.

Saying Bastian isn't that type of player is silly - dude hits (50 in 21 GP) and has 1 of the 3 fighting majors the Devils have received this year. They also have Miles Wood, another sandpaper guy who is capable of fighting - and both of those dudes have been more productive than Anderson. And if they really need a bruiser, they've got Brendan Smith on the roster - so I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that Jersey is soft?

Ok maybe they have some grit but what i said WAS, on the Right Side, I understand they have Wood and Smith and such, Bastien yes has more points than Anderson this year, but Anderson has scored more goals, played more has more experience, than even Wood has. Anderson is no bum, given the right players he could be a 30 goal scorer. Anyway I wasnt saying Jersey has no grit I just meant on the Right side.

Marino is a top 4 defenseman who plays the hardest minutes against the likes of Connor McDavid and co.
Josh Anderson is an oft injured 3rd and 4th Liner with a terrible contract, has only scored 20 goals one time, and has terrible underlyings on top of all that.

MTL would need to add an actual centerpiece to the trade, and sweetener to take on that contract

I get that you can't see JA's value, but you're overcompensating the other direction by quite a bit.

JA’s Bad traditional stats+bad underlyings+bad contract=bad value
You can absolutely expand on your own thought instead

A middle 6, ~40pt/82gm pace power forward making middle 6 winger type money. Sounds like terrible value to me yep mhmm...

Marino, a bonifided top 4 shutdown dman, has significantly more value than Anderson, a 3rd liner on a massive contract

His current 30 point pace would be less than all but one of NJ’s regular forwards, Jesper Boqvist who has 4 points in 16 games. Considering he’s only playing because of Palat’s injury, and if you’re only looking at point totals, Josh Anderson could very well look like a 13th/14th forward here

Hmm
Which one is worse :
Anderson vs Marino + NJ add
Anderson is a 3rd/4th line grinder and isn’t worth more than a 2nd round pick

Ok both are terrible but I have to agree, Marino + for Anderson might be a worse take 😆
