Room For Greatness
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>With Allen on the books for next year, Schmid would have to be in a A1 Goalie deal. Wasn’t he supposed to be the starter for y’all? Was very promising in that Round1 playoff serie last year.</div></div>
Schmid was supposed to be at least a 1B this year, but he struggled. Though I think the Devils inconsistent defense and poor coaching didn't do him any favors.
I think he still has a bright future, but considering the Devils immediate need in net, I'd be fine with trading Schmid if we can acquire a proven #1 goalie.

Byfield Offer Sheet Excercise
I don't know about Byfield, but there's no way that Pittsburgh trade would happen. Even if Crosby were available, Pens would need Montreal's 2024 1st, especially if you're expecting them to throw in Letang and dump Anderson on them lol.

John Hynes got fired less than 12 months after an extension, so I wouldn't say Fitz is necessarily safe. NJ has more than enough talent to make the playoffs, but they're about to miss the playoffs mainly due to not addressing their goaltending. This was a big step back and that's on Fitz.
Fitz can't go 2 straight offseasons without making a significant addition in net. And as much as I like him, a soon to be 37yr old Talbot is not the answer.

If Fitz goes into next season with this goaltending tandem, he's going to get fired if NJ gets off to a slow start.

That makes no sense. Why wouldn't NJ just bring in a goaltender and have Allen be the backup? Allen is cheap and is a better option than Daws and Schmid to be the backup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJDevils1317</b></div><div>Honestly, I think the Devils may just run with Allen and a relatively cheap 1B next year rather than spend cap room and assets like this on a goalie with so much term and cost.</div></div>
I don't see that happening. I think the Devils are going to make a big goalie trade, whether it's Markstrom, Ullmark, etc. Goaltending cost the devils a playoff spot this year, Fitzgerald knows that if he doesn't make a big move in net and the Devils miss the playoffs again, he's going to get fired.

Sellers
I don't understand the rationale behind the Devils being sellers, especially at this point. Now that Carter Hart is out, NJ has a great shot at catching Philly for 3rd in the division.
IMHO, the Devils should be adding and trying to push for the playoffs.

TDL Knight to NJD
I think don't think it's a bad trade, but I also don't think the Devils make this move.
NJ has had a ton of injuries on the blueline, specifically to their veterans so trading out Colin Miller would essentially leave the Devils with 4 defenseman under the age of 23 for the rest of the year.
Also, Fitz has mentioned possibly resigning Toffoli so I'm unsure if they deal him at TDL. I'd love to get Knight that would be a good get for NJ.

Easy no from NJ. If they're going to trade a 1st and 2nd round picks, it's going to be for a Goalie or an established defenseman.

Yeah, I'm not one of those Devils fans lol. Honestly, the Devils don't need Montreal to retain any money, NJ can just put Dougie on LTIR and gain some cap space to afford Allen this year. And he's only signed for next year, so that wouldn't be an issue either as long as NJ can dump Vitek in the offseason.
The Devils just desperately needs any goalie who is decent to pair with Daws.

Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Where would the improvement come from? They have a ton of guys in their 30s (getting raises next year), and still 15 mill in dead cap space</div></div>
True, but they'll also have a number of young talented players like Boldy and Eriksson Ek. Marco Rossi and Brock Faber are rookies who have played well, if both of them improve the team could be a lot better. Plus, Spurgeon and Brodin have been injured most of this year, getting them healthy would help the Wild a ton.
All I'm saying is that it's entirely plausible that the Wild are having a down year and can bounce back next year.

Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>The team is bad this year, probably doesn’t look any better next year with still 15 mill in dead cap, and by then Wallstedt is the full time starter.
Also the multiple 1st rounders I’m offering</div></div>
Sure they could be bad next year, but they also might bounce back next year. Either way, with Kaprizov there I can't see the Wild going into a rebuild, that's the reason I don't see them trading Gustavsson. He's only 25yrs old and is a proven starter, which Wallstedt isn't at this point.

Year 2
I don't see why Minnesota would trade Gustavsson. He has a reasonable cap hit and a tandem with him and Wallstedt the next 2+ years is probably the most ideal scenario for the Wild.

What would be the market for selling Dougie
The biggest factor is whether Dougie approves a trade lol. He's changed teams 3 times already and I doubt he wants to move again.
There's a reason he has a full NTC and has big signing bonuses on the back end of his contract.

Cant wait to see comments
Gotta admit I admire the uniqueness of the NJ trade, rare to see a hockey trade that's pretty fair to both sides.
With that said, I believe the Devils would decline just because of McLeod's importance to the team, plus trading him would cause issues with their Center depth.
