    No, not Mermis!

He's the nephew of Vikings legend and NFL HOF'er Randall McDaniel. His Minnesota connections are too strong to give him up! 😉

The Habs want Tuna back. But we sadly have too many forwards. If we can move a few, then yes, otherwise, sadly no.

Lol, kinda figured. If you have the Athletic, Michael Russo wrote an excellent article about him and his relationship with his uncle.

    Great read!

    What

Trades 1, 4, and 5 are unnecessary, trade 2 makes the team worse, and trade 3 would get the whole front office fired on the spot

Smart idea to trade Tatar who has 11 points in 15 minutes, on 7 game point streak, and is playing top line minutes

If Greer has been so good, why the heck would the Bruins trade him?

Or the Foegele trade or the A-K trade or the Mermis trade, or the losing Zetterlund to waivers

    I mean, I get it.

    But....

Mermis is strictly an fringe NHL'er type for call up purposes. He would literally spend 99% of the year down in the AHL until he'd come up as an injury fill-in.

A 7th rounder for that kind of depth security isn't something to balk on.

Why would we do that when we have plenty of depth at D to begin with, and Mermis was our prospect that we chose not to keep

That's a very generous offer for Mermis. It's not often you see a draft pick traded for an AHL player. Even NHL players only get traded for future considerations at times.

No, Edmonton needs depth too. They would possibly revisit this at the deadline (when Kane is expected back), but for now there's no reason to make this move.

Tatar has been a legitimate top 6 player this year tho. Why pay to get rid of him especially on a walk year. If anything this team has shown it has really good depth. The only things we need imo r another top 6 winger and perhaps a goalie if Blackwood doesn't come back healthy.

We had Greer last year and had a good year in AHL but game was too fast for him in his NHL stints. I don’t think it would be a good fit.

Tatar is playing well. Has 1-year. He is a better “own rental” than some of these guys we’re adding here.

NAK could have been claimed via waivers twice. Think we’d pass there too. Zetterlund more valuable to us.

Feel free to just claim NAK for free when he gets waived once his suspension is up ...
