Good good no, there is nothing in that trade the leafs want for free let alone adding anything of value

Necas is outproducing Horvat right now in fewer games. Easy pass from Carolina right now. Plus, Canes don't need more center help.

Canes pass. Necas' value will be reassessed after the season has ended. He looks more like the guy who would take a next step after a 50 point season instead of the guy who struggled last season. Then you add in Horvat is likely a rental and it isnt considered anyways.

that Winnipeg deal is pretty bad.

Myers at 3m doesn't help the Oilers cap situation at all, so he's probably not a guy they would want for JP.

Vancouver is definitely not doing that Winnipeg trade, they are better off attaching their own 1st to Pearson than to do that trade. If you don't like the Miller signing, doesn't make much sense to trade for Wheeler since they both will be 38 when they are set to become FAs again and Miller is the better player now. All the Canucks are getting is a 1st that they don't need and cap space which they can get in other ways if needed.

An OEL for Muzzin swap would be rejected just because of OEL's term, plus Muzzin is probably a guy who will be kept around in Toronto as long as he can still play since he's liked in the Leafs locker room. He could be gone next year if there's a change in management but if not he'll probably be extended to an 800Kx2 contract assuming he can still play and Giordano retires or is worse.

Easy no for the Leafs. When healthy, Muzzin is better than OEL and while neither is worth their contract (even with retention), Muzzin has 2 years to OEL's 5.

And when not healthy, he provides more wiggle room on LTIR than Ferland.

Wouldn't do it for free, let alone sending a 1st.

OEL may be better than Muzzin, but that’s not saying much. Both contracts suck, but Muzzin is way closer to expiring. Hell he may be done after this year anyway.

You really think the Leafs will take OEL for free? Add in your best prospect and multiple first round picks if you want to get rid of that contract. Easy no from the Leafs

Every team needs more 1sts, Wheeler has one year left while Miller has like 7, this would get Van out of that contract and a 1st towards the future.

Miller and Wheeler probably block it anyway and not much reason for Winnipeg to do this, they needed to trade for Miller when Van did, not now though.

If you are counting this season, Wheeler has 2 years left just like Pearson and Miller has 8; however, Miller is 7 years younger than Wheeler, producing more, and his contract will probably age similar to Wheeler's. So, it's like you just want the mediocre/bad years of Miller now to save 4m (not sure for what exactly) + a 1st.

Vancouver has their own 1st, I guess they could use more if their plan is to just draft a ton of RHD. Otherwise, they have a full top 9 on the NHL-level, and it's not like their prospect pool is completely barren either.

If Vancouver needs cap for something, they are better off just attaching a pick to Pearson, rather than downgrading Miller to Wheeler. If they trade Horvat, that's 5m, right there.
