I'm pretty sure the taxes in NJ/NY/PA are higher than in Alberta lol. Plus he's getting paid in USD regardless, but paying living expenses in CAD, so there's that distinct advantage (1 USD is worth like 1.3 CAD).
Kadri would take most of the money, but we do need a 2C. I'm just worried that he gets 7 years at too much money given his production literally every other year of his career, and is already 32. I'd rather do Trocheck or Copp for around 5-6mil and then sign another winger so you can keep the Coleman+Backlund duo as the third line (Tkachuk-Lindholm-Toffoli / UFA-Trocheck-Mangiapane / Coleman-Backlund-Dube is something I could maybe live with).

Yeah at a point I agree.

Like I get both sides.

But I can see why he’d maybe rather leave Calgary and just see what the road gives him. Like from that perspective I get it; I’ve got a good job that I can’t complain about but I can see the tastefulness in wanting to live somewhere new or be put into a new environment. I mean Calgary VS (specific not REALISTIC example) Dallas - man that’s a cool place to live imo. Or for example; maybe Tkachuk doesn’t plan to stay long term (they could be really close and have that personal info if it was on Matthews mind), and so Johnny ain’t gonna stay no shot. Not even to the Flames fault (highest rated stadium by many).

But I can also see why - yeah maybe Gaudreau and Tkachuk need to realize they could actually win a cup with the Flames - and it shouldn’t matter where your HOME is.

Tho I need to disagree with you overall.
Sometimes it’s just out of the Flames control. Like it could be there’s nothing they could do which is why it’s “emotional”; the word they used. It’s just life and seeing what’s the next chapter.
