Agreed. I'd take anything from that group with a grain of salt. Low scoring, physical winger that often hurt though...Yikes Lou...Yikes.

people rarely have sources in the org so like i’m not trusting it 100% but this pick is way too high to risk on a player like josh anderson. just go for kevin fiala if you’re acquiring a winger i mean jfc, him and debrincat are the only ones who might actually be worth what you’re paying for them. ledecky and malkin should fire lou on the spot for even considering this.

    This.

It's kind of funny, because just about any of the Habs trades on here get laughed at...like "Anderson for 2OA" or "5OA" or whatever...but then all of the sudden there's a Lou rumor and I immediately get those "Some dummy will overpay for Chiarot"-type vibes.

    1. Mailloux was drafted by the previous GM.

    2. The current GM would want to take the team in a different direction.

    3. The second round pick gives the Habs the opportunity to get rid of some baggage.

they just need to make that pick and not **** with all this. aside from fiala, miller and debrincat, and then some of the guys on the jets depending on what direction they go, no forward on the trade market is going to make a big enough impact to get this team where they need to be. they’ll be in infinitely better shape by just taking nazar or mateychuk or whoever else is there at that spot. i already had to watch the knicks absolutely blow the draft, i can’t do this with the isles too.

Why would MTL get compensation from the league for not signing a prospect? Also, giving up that pick for Anderson would be awful for NYI.

Hughes invited Mailloux to the Habs prospect development camp this summer while he rehabs from surgery.... doesn't look like he's looking to get rid of him or let him go...

Because Mailloux is a 1st round pick.

Any team that fails to sign a first round pick to an ELC by a specified deadline is awarded a 2nd round pick for the upcoming draft.

It happened just recently with Filip Johansson and the Minnesota Wild.

    Hughes wouldnt do that
MB would and it would be views a Win
Hughes will get Bellows and the 13th OA looking like a Hero

I think you'll see Anderson Solo in this deal
MTL has multiple suitors this isnt just NYI
13th OA this year doesnt have the same value it will next year
Outside the top 2 its all players who would be ranked 5th-15th in your average draft

That said MTL has interest in Lambert who was ranked as high as 4th OA before a really bad year
Now they're not even sure he'll go top 20

If this deal gets done its to NYI advantage to do it before the Draft cause if Lambert's gone there's no motivation really to grab 13th as the quality will be very similar to our 26th OA pick. If they wait too long MTL is likely to go with a team who has more to offer because as Hughes said his ideal trade piece isnt a Pick or a Player its a Prospect right on the edge of turning Pro and NYI just dont have that piece (he gave up a 1st with Lehkonen to get Barron and justified it right away to Eric Engles)

We're more likely to be interested in TML who is apparently willing to part with Robertson since the rise or Knies
Robertson could be a late bloomer like his brother for MTL and is deffinately attractive enough to trade with a Rival for
That said i feel Bellows will be a key in MTL/NYI deal as if Hughes can land him and a pick he'll have a big win in MTL and sell a boat load of Jersey's being a Legacy
(Geoffrion was a 4th gen legacy who i think played a handful of games for us and still sold a ton of Jersey's in a short time as Legacy's always will in MTL)

Interesting. Sounds vaguely familiar but that is a rule I either completely forgot about or never knew to begin with. haha. Kinda bogus that the pick is put right before their actual pick that they traded to CHI. Would make more sense to put compensatory picks at the end of the round. But oh well.

    1 He didnt say that
2 the direction he's building is Mailloux game
    3 you're a bully

The kid broke a Paparazzi law and has been villainized and slandered.
He's not only jumped through all the NHL's hoops he showed Remoarse , Paid for his Crime and Justice was served.

He didnt Rape someone like E.Kane or P.Kane then hire the same lawyer to Sl** Shame them and attack them publicly until they withdrew when legions of NHL Fans attacked them because they felt defending their favorite player mattered more then Justice

Or NHL All Star Varlamov beating and holding his Girlfriend Hostage yet still being able to play.

Those are just a few of the full grown men who bullied their victims using the system to their advantage.
Mailloux like a Schmuck owned his actions and showed true remoarse never fighting this just accepting his punishment.
He showed more Maturity at 17 then many of the NHL's top stars in their Prime.

Why we're trying to bully the kid into offing himself is just wild. . .
Especially when his story could raise awareness to help prevent future victims from going through this
Its a huge reason why Rape Culture is so popular this side of the world and why we act so outraged but do nothing

Never even noticed that before. Seems like a stupid rule to me, though. Yes, it would suck for a 1st round pick not to work out, but that sounds like an internal scouting problem and not the leagues problem. Getting compensated for a bad pick is hardly "cutting your loses", 2nd round picks still have lots of potential. Especially when you consider that Johansson was 24th overall. He was practically a 2nd rounder as it is. But oh well.

    Just a comparison:

Josh Anderson the last two seasons: 121 games, 56 points.
Jesse Puljujarvi the last two seasons: 120 games, 61 points.

Anderson is 4 years older than Puljujarvi and is due $30.5 million over the balance of his contract; Puljujarvi is unsigned but won't cost 80% of Anderson's cap hit. One can argue that Puljujarvi's stats are inflated by playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but even so, I still think this would be a terrible idea for the Isles.

Why would this effect my sleep . . .
This is just Facts based on Statements from Hughes interviews with Eric Engles mostly

What you're saying goes against literally every Trade hughes has made
    Lets go over the list

You were wrong about the value of
    -Lehkonen
    -Kulak
    -Chiarot
    -Toffoli
    -Weber

Just to name 5 arguments i remember having with you
That said to be fully upfront i was wrong on most of the returns to as we got more then i expected

Just saying if this was MB era i think you'd be right and we'd both be closer on predictions
But in the Hughes Era things are not the same at all as his worst trade to date trumps MB best trades(and he made some good ones)

Opinions aside i base my baseline around the trade history of each GM
If i was to build teams based only of what i wanted then most of the Veterans would be gone
That said i kept in Mind when MB was in charge the type of moves he made as im doing now with Hughes

If you think you can Challenge me based on Fact feel free
Just remember i dont forget and when this trade happens im not humble about it lol

Its a rule put in place to help Expansion teams who's draft departments at that time were stretched REALLY thin
After 30 years every NHL teams Draft Departments are stacked and now thats expanded into Analytics Departments
That wasnt always the case which is why OTT blew its first two 1st OA picks with complete bust's

One can argue that Puljujarvi's stats are inflated by playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but even so, I still think this would be a terrible idea for the Isles.

i’ve been arguing for a while that pulju would be a perfect target for the isles. his underlying numbers are all really solid and they’d pay less in contract and to acquire him than for a lot of other players. he’s still super young and there’s reason to believe there’s more there. he would just be a significantly better acquisition than anderson in literally every way.

Lol what? I was wrong about the Toffoli trade? I called the exact value over a month before the trade. The fact that you seem to have these crazy memories of me being wrong on all of the above players trades speaks volumes about you.

I also said Lehkonen could get similar to the Coleman return due to his defensive game and RFA status
