Continuing Rebuild Adding Support

Description
The Team looks to be slightly competitive, but still adding young pieces/picks and will not be a playoff team. They add some solid pieces to bring confidence to the young players

*with Detroit’s first round pick in 2022, they select one of the many talented centers available such as Shane Wright, Logan Cooley, Matthew Savoie, or Brad Lambert

DET
  1. Reilly, Mike
  2. Choix de 7e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Red Wings need an actual d partner for Seider and Reilly is a great buy low option to do so. Moving on one of your not top end prospects when you have so much depth is more than fine if it means you give your star young players some support. It’s a crime that Seider had to play with Danny Dekeyser all year
BOS
  1. Grewe, Albin [Liste de réserve]
Détails additionnels:
Bruins receive a half decent prospect while moving on from Reilly who they likely won’t be keeping with Lindholm signed long term (they also have scratched him a few times as of late)
2.
DET
  1. Hagelin, Carl
  2. McMichael, Connor
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (WPG)
Détails additionnels:
Caps give up an A level piece and a 2nd; but also clear Hagelin’s Contract and get a Bertuzzi half retained. Caps seem like they want to keep pushing to be competitive with their core, and while I don’t think this move is what they should do, it’s something similar to what I think they could do. They also get Erne, a solid depth piece, as part of the trade as well
WSH
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler (2 375 000 $ retained)
  2. Erne, Adam
3.
DET
  1. Drouin, Jonathan
Détails additionnels:
Struggling forward for struggling forward. Both pending UFAs, Drouin has more offensive potential but Suter is 2.25 mil cheaper and is more of a defensive player as well. If Drouin performs in Detroit he can either be kept or reflipped at the deadline for assets
4.
DET
  1. Brännström, Erik [Droits de RFA]
  2. Murray, Matt
  3. Pinto, Shane
Détails additionnels:
More or less 2 separate ideas going on here. First, we are seeing a struggling young forward going to Ottawa and a struggling young defenceman going to Detroit. The Brannstrom for Zadina swap makes sense as Ottawa clearly isn’t treating Brannstrom right and with so many other young d men coming up, I don’t see a fit there. Zadina has yet to display it yet in the NHL, but he can become a very solid goal scorer, and he likely has a fit in the future on the Sens as a top 6 guy if all goes right. The other idea here is Murray being cap dumped, and Pinto being the cost. Murray at 6.25x2 is a major negative value wise contract, and the cost to dump it is pretty damn high. Pinto is a very solid prospect who’s trade value is to be projected at I’d imagine around a late 1st round pick, this is what I think it would have to take at least to dump off Murray’s contract. Oesterle can be a 6th d man for Ottawa for now, just a throw in
5.
DET
  1. Dadonov, Evgeni
  2. Choix de 7e ronde en 2023 (VGK)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Cap Dump, but Vegas also gets back a 6/7th d man and a guy who can be either a 4th liner or a injury replacement
VGK
  1. Stephens, Mitchell [Droits de RFA]
  2. Walman, Jake [Droits de RFA]

Think the bruins would be better served with a mid-round pick for reilly.

laugh laugh Connor McMichael+2022 2nd for Tyler Bertuzzi @ $2,375,000 isn't even in the ballpart. Bertuzzi @ $2,375,000 easily cost 2 1st round picks. Hagelin = Erne. Detroit 100% declines.

Is this a joke? Detroit 100% turns down the Bertuzzi trade. McMichael's and a 2nd round pick nowhere in the world gets Tyler Bertuzzi @ $2,375,000 McMichael is no Vrana.

Yeah don't think so, Zero chance of Yzerman having anymore interest in taking back Jonathan Drouin.

sure for bruins.

Habs trade I'm split on. I would rather have Suter than Drouin, but I don't think Suter is good enough to be 2C and I think Veleno and Rasmussen handle the bottom 3C and 4C roles pretty well. Also, don't think Yzerman would trade to bring Drouin in after shipping him out in Tampa.

Washington trade is brutal for Detroit

Ottawa trade is brutal for Ottawa

Vegas trade, we don't need to give up assets to get a cap dump.

I think the Habs deal could work for both sides but like North_Kariya said doubt Yzerman would like that deal.

After reading the feedback, y’all are very low on McMichael it seems. I think the guy could become a very good 2C, the kids a stud.

That works too, I just assumed they’d want a more NHL ready prospect. Grewe I believe was a late 2nd rounder/early 3rd rounder in 2019

I wouldnt do Pinto for Zadina one for one so I certainly wouldnt be inclined to use him as a sweetener in a cap dump. As far as I'm concerned Sanderson is already a top 4 NHL dman so as far as prospects go, him and Greig are the best the team has to offer. Moving him as a throwaway would be a genuinely fireable offence by Dorion. When you add in the fact that Ottawa is nowhere near the cap ceiling and will be under new ownership (that hopefully will be more willing to spend) it really doesnt make sense at all to move on from a piece like Pinto.

Ottawa made their bed, if that's the price to dump two years of Murray then you need to lay in it. Wait the contract out. Keep Pinto.

Has nothing to do with being very low on McMichaels, Bertuzzi @ $2,375,000 easily gets 2 1st round picks back. Bertuzzi @ $4,750,000 gets back a 1st round pick+Blue Chip Prospect and a high end roster player. So @ 50% retention he gets back another 1st round pick on top of it for one more season

Grewe was a 3rd round pick. He have had a rough season this year with signing in Finland and not getting any icetime. He's just now starting to get things back together again. He's an energy guy with puck skills, comparable in playing style to Oskar Sundqvist. I've always thought that his qualities are better suited to the play on NHL-sized ice rather than Olympic sized ice.

That Ottawa trade is a joke, you can just buy out the player or send him to a team that won't charge that much. Also if you think that you're getting a NHL ready 2nd line center for a cap dump, you're insane. Murray is also one hit away from ending his career on LTIR.

There's a lot going on here. Putting individual trades aside this is like putting your team through a blender and hoping it turns out OK. I don't see any of this as part of the Yzerplan.

Most likely LTIR anyway. It must be getting harder and harder for doctors to clear him for contact.
