There’s not a single player he makes the Flyers team over lmao. Brink is right behind Greig that doesn’t mean Brink is the next McDavid.</div></div>
The fact that you called Chychrun a second line defensemen is ludicrous. He may be a top 20 defensemen in the game. Who had one more year on his contract than Konnecy did when he was traded. He also played over 20 minutes a game in Arizona.
That said King of bad takes
Also I wouldn’t redraft Boucher at this point. He’s looked great when he’s played. He’s just gotten injured way to much to make a judgement on.

King of bad takes here. Greig currently leads the league in rookie scoring. Over Bedard and Cooley.
Boucher won't be traded until he has a healthy season.
Jarventie would have also made the Sens if they had cap space because he was dynamite in the preseason. He also is a very productive player from the 2020 draft.
He'd be one of the Flyers best prospects instantly and probably be in the NHL on that team.
All for a player that has a year and half left on his contract who is getting a similar return to Chychrun in half developped prospects.

Dude, Ottawa is top 10 in the league in numerous offensive categories. There defensive play has been fine so far. Best it's been in about 6 years.
Goaltending has been fine and will get better. Not to mention from January to March from last year they were a top 10 team in hockey.

Chabot and Weegar are very similar defensemen. In no world is the difference between them a first. Also Chabot is younger.

Can't see them trading that in exchange for pointless depth pieces and a pick that won't help them for years.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GreatWhiteNorth</b></div><div>That’s not how LTIR works.
Sens don’t get the full cap hit relief of Chabot’s entire season, they get whatever amount he is on IR for. Cap hit are accumulated daily. So if Chabot is on LTIR for 8 weeks, Sens would be allotted to exceed the upper limit but that total amount of 8 weeks salary of Chabot’s contract.
So Chabot makes $41.7K daily, if he’s out 8 weeks that’s a total of 56 days.
$41.7 x 56 = $2,335,200 - that’s the relief that Ottawa will receive, not $8,000,000</div></div>
Doesn’t exactly matter, they get enough to call up players to have a full roster.
If you’re thinking about Pinto he probably signs a one year contract near league minimum at the end of his suspension, goes down to play for Belleville and it does not affect the cap whatsoever. He is also eligible to sign with the Sens past the December 1st deadlines and play in the NHL during the year.

Ottawa has 8 million in cap space for the next 4-6 weeks or for however long Chabot is out. Also based on the injury history of this core I suspect there will always be someone on LTIR. So they don’t need to make this trade.
Also note, Kastelic is probably better as a fourth line winger.

It’s stupid. He is the exact type of person they target their 50 betting adds per game toward. A young college age kid. They don’t know how to properly handle their money. This suspension is not going to help him. He should be in the NHLPA player assistance program, to help get ride of whatever it was. Also the evidence published would probably not hold up in court. Breach of privacy with respect to the company that flagged his account action to the NHL as well.

I believe that’s because it was for an on ice infraction. Because this is off-ice it doesn’t count towards the cap. Also, the December 1st deadline is waived so Pinto will probably sign when his suspension is done and go down and play in the AHL on a close to league minimum contract to get ready for next year. Thus he won’t even count towards the Sens cap.

There is no point to panic, Brannstromm probably won’t be out for that long, Zub will be back soon. So in that point you’re paying a first and or second to Nashville for Fabbro to play on your bottom pair. That’s not smart asset management, especially if you are diminishing your forward depth in Kubalik, and have Guenette, JBD, Thompson, Kleven, Matinpalo, Larson, and Heatherington who can provide the same time with varying degrees of success.
In summary, this trade makes absolutely no sense for Ottawa, again because they are playing 7 D in Belleville cause they have 7 D that should play. You could also argue that Kleven should be in the NHL anyway. (He and Matinpalo were calaled up today.)

From what I read on TSN. The Sens could sign him and because of the suspension it wouldn’t count against the cap till he has finished the suspension. Then they could activate him.
So to refute the first quote. The Sens actually gain leverage in that the Sens accrue cap space while still being able to sign Pinto.

This is something that people say when they have not watched the player. I would not be surprised if Forsberg ends up being better and more important than Korpisalo this year. Also goalies take a long time to develop, Sogaard is still way too young and that was shown last year. He would be an ideal backup for many many teams in the league. And he's on a great salary talking about Forsberg.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>With the game yesterday, I’m pretty confident this team can compete for a wildcard spot. Helping our rival won’t be helpful</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>They got far in the game last night and they looked better than Ottawa. I think they might have a chance if they stay healthy</div></div>
Carolina is a far better team than Toronto, better coached and has better goaltending. Ottawa won the first period and could have won the game if not for Andersen. I didn't see the Montreal and Toronto game but I saw a close score.
However, Ottawa, Buffalo, Florida, Boston, Detroit, and Tampa are all in a similar echelon and I think that with the quality of roster that Montreal is just below that. They might surprise if stuff falls their way but their goaltending would have to be excellent cause Ottawa, Buffalo, Detroit, and even Tampa are going to score a lot and not defend or let in a lot.
Keep in mind that Ottawa was also only 6 pts out of a playoff spot with huge injury trouble last year as well.
I think Montreal will finish last but they won't be a pushover. Similar to Ottawa the last few years, hard team to play, but they lose more often then they win.
Also, important to note this was the first game. If we are truly going of the first game then Edmonton would be trading 97 et al and Vancouver would be the class of the league.
We won't see the good teams till end of November.

Do the sens really need Girard anyway? The only thing the avs are missing is defensive depth, it makes no sense to get rid of Girard in any situation.</div></div>
This trade really does not make much sense.
Brannstromm is an underatted member of Ottawa's defense and is routinely better than Chabot and Chychrun on some nights.
Joseph is a pretty important member of the forward group.
So, if Ottawa is sending Pinto, Joseph, and Brannstrom. For Girard and other pieces that won't make much of a difference or suit a need. Then there is zero point for this trade.
They have elimanated the problem, with a solution that doesn't benefit (specifically) Ottawa neither Colorado given that Pinto is probably not good enough yet to play 2C on Colorado. He will get there though.

if I remember correctly, they didn't want to include either guy in the Chychrun trade, because they wanted to keep them. Just to lose them a few months later for nothing. Just odd asset management.
I still like a lot of what Dorion is doing, but these 2 are just strange to me.</div></div>
Low and behold in hindsight, that JBD passed waiver and Thompson ended back up in Ottawa.
I think that there was interest, however the salary cap prevented some teams.
He probably knew that both of them would pass through waivers.
Also with Matinpalo and Guennette they have serious internal competition.

Would Chabot pair with Rielly
The logic that the OP has made is suspect.
Given that Nylander with a super pricy extension is getting the world and Chabot, on what will become a steal of a contract (with the rising cap) is getting very little in return. Especially cause Brodie would be a UFA in a year. The first and third is nothing for a top pairing dmen. That is part of the leadership group on their team.
Vancouver is also getting nothing back because Timmins is a 6/7, Jankrok is just depth, and a 2nd would be the cost of retention.
The idea is also flawed because both Reilly and Chabot like to be aggressive and play out.
