Shultz, getting rid of Kempny's contract and keeping Siegenthaler. At the end of the day, the caps could have found a way, it was easier to dump Burakovsky for a few picks.

It reminds me of when the isles traded Toews and fans said there was no way they could have kept him. it was simple as buying out or trading Nick Leddy


Everything but keeping Siegenthaler I could get on board with. Issue with Siegenthaler was that unlike Burakovsky and Vrana, he didn’t show enough of what he’s doing this year in DC. I think that trade is a win for all parties involved as Washington got a pick for someone that was clearly going to be stuck as the 7D this year in DC, Siegenthaler went somewhere with more ice time to realize his abilities, and NJ got a good defenseman at a reasonable rate.

They still have Devon Levi and Erik Portillo on their reserve lists, but i don't think either of them want to leave their college teams yet.

They will bring in an emergency goalie from Ryerson or one of the local universities as technically you are allowed without needing to bring Levi in

And it helps with a cap exploit for the rest of the season

(The Dishigan was against the Sabres, but it's true that technically speaking it was not a Michigan goal)
