The team can't afford to not take the risk having the two best offensive players in the world right now. Not to mention they're also in their primes too. This is a playoff team but not one that can go far without some help throughout the lineup.

Better off to just keep Barrie, gotta be better ways to invest a 1st round pick then on a rental.

When do you ever see a bottom six forward command a 7 piece return?

Another case of "too much quantity, not enough quality".

avs do not need a 3rd goalie, especially once making as much money even retained as Koskinen. They are not wasting roster space and cap space on a goalie that doesnt help them

I'll just copy/paste from another thread with Brown involved...

Ottawa doesn't want to trade Connor Brown (or at least SHOULD NOT WANT)

The main weakness in their lineup is the lack of QUALITY Veterans. 90% of the quality they have are young players who had to do it by themselves without any veteran to rely on, except Connor. Plus the 2 positions where they need an upgrade are RW and RD, and Brown is a RW. You're creating a big need by doing this.

They have to extend him for like 5 years at 5.0, hopefully he is not too greedy

If this is NOT POSSIBLE, then the Sens need to trade him but NOT for that kind of return, secondary pieces that MAY or MAY NOT help the team in a few years.

While Connor Brown's efficiency comes from playing a matchup role on the 3rd line, producing against quality NHL players at even strength, calling him a "bottom six forward" is really selling him short. But agreed, that return is quite unrealistic but still doesn't interest us lol

If the Sens HAVE TO trade Connor Brown, they need to trade him way differently than that

Half the pieces are throw ins….

Kassian is a cap dump, so negative value. Marody and Benson are throw ins that don’t really move the needle. Lavoie is a B prospect at best.

Two 2nds and a 4th really isn’t that crazy considering Ottawa has to eat THREE more years at 3.2m on Kassians albatross of a contract.

Edmonton could just send their 1st… that or some combination of Lavoie (assuming Dorion likes him) and the 2nds. Simple.

Barrie doesn't fit in on the team and he provides negative value defensively. He was great last year but hasn't looked good this year.

Habs won't and shouldn't get much more than the offer for a rental guy who is at best a second pairing dman. Me along with the majority of the hockey community know that he isn't worth the first so a second and an okay goalie prospect should get the deal done.

Brown is not a bottom 6 forward at all. The oilers lack offensive talent in the bottom 6 and brown can provide some value there which may in turn improve his lines production too.

That is true when I looked at the trade. I'd consider turning the two seconds into a first and removing kassian and marody. Also, the trade would only happen if the sens were willing to move on from Brown and him only having one year left on his deal after this season makes it possible.

That's my bad as I thought Francouz was still out. Instead I'd just move koskinen to a different team that needs a backup.

Kuemper and Francouz are both healthy, unless something changes before the deadline, they dont need to do anything drastic in net. They got their guys

The trade would only work if the team and brown were mutual about a trade. I do agree that the trade is flawed and the oilers would have to give up something larger and worth while to acquire brown. If the ask for him is too much the oilers can always go a different route and get a rental guy.

Oh this is good. You and the vast majority of the hockey community.

There is going to be a bidding war. There are reports that multiple teams want him. I hope it's the oilers and I hope it's a haul.

only habs fans would think they can get more for chariot. Gm's aren't that stupid to participate in a bidding war of his caliber. Gm's didn't even want to do a bidding war for eichel.

GMs are that stupid and one of those stupid GMs is running the Oilers.
