Description

This is mostly about the value check....
I assume that every Flyer fan will say that Couturier is not tradeable (and I would guess they are right)... but let's pretend that Fletcher doesn't think he can pay him next summer, or Couturier doesn't want to stay, and CF tries to capture value while he can... It's been said that there is at least a little interest in Dumba by PHI, and I would prefer to pay this sort of package for Couturier to Eichel..
Probably needs value adjusted or more salary going back to MN... not sure... suggest away.
I think that with the cap situation, one of Boldy or Duhaime or Dewar etc should be on the team. I don't know RD well enough so I just plugged the hole with Hunt to complete the roster.

For a pending UFA that is a solid package. If I'm Wild I'd hesitate doing this...if Couts walked it would be such a step back in their retool, they'd lose two or three years completely

What's with all the Konecny love? Neither his Point stats nor his advanced stats have me excited to trade for him and his $5.5 cap hit... what am I missing on him that is appealing?

But I get the point about Couts being a risk... it's always a risk to trade for someone 1 year away from UFA.

I wouldn't see him as a rental though. And BG wouldn't do that trade for a rental... He's always about better now and better down the line. I'd be trading for Couturier knowing that I would need to pay him in a year and I'm okay with that. Perhaps that's a naiive take to think that we could re-sign someone we traded for, but that would be the intent.

I still wouldn't be comfortable moving Rossi (or Boldy) for him. He's really good, but those two shouldn't be moved unless one is included in a deal for someone like Eichel. I just think it's too big of a risk for us to pay a big price for potential rentals like Couturier, Hertl, or Zibanejad if he's available

I personally see Eichel as a bigger risk... but that's just me. And any top C, whether expiring UFA or not, will be "unpalatably expensive".

Yes I'm aware, he offer Dumba, Rossi and Greenway for them. Not "basically Rossi and Greenway".

What about the original proposal is bad for Philly? I heard bad for MN because of the risk of getting a UFA-1, but what seems not good from the PHI side?

Sorry, I was referring to the proposal that poster quoted, Dumba, Rossi and Greenway for Couturier and Konecny. Not your original proposal.

On a UFA1 trade you can include discussions about their next contract, so GMBG would know a ball park of what Couts is expecting. I think it's worth the risk if we could do it. But I also agree with TanSor that Boldy and Rossi shouldn't be in the trade bait for anyone but Eichel.

BTW, the best RD after Addison is Mermis. Hunt will be allowed to walk, but you'll get Mermis for 750k so no change to your build

And he was just shy of 50 pts for two years in a row prior… so which is the anomaly? 19-20 or 20-21?
In my mind I was thinking 61 in 82games not in 66, so 19-20 was much more productive than I was thinking.

But it sounds likely that I need to watch more because I am probably undervaluing him.

I will agreed to disagree on Eichel. There are 15 centers in the league that I would trade Rossi and/or Boldy for … and Couts is on that list for me, and for me Eichel is not.

The two seasons where he didn't reach 50 points was because he was stuck on power play two. That unit was so inept, that they would practically keep the first unit out the whole time. Almost all his points came at 5v5. Once he got moved up to pp1 in 19-20, it wasn't surprising he nearly became a ppg player and led the team in scoring. This year everyone on the team sucked so it wasn't just Konecny. I think Konecny will be a reliable 70-80 point guy in his prime.

Couts gets a 1st + an A/B prospect or young bottom-6/pair player with upside as a rental trade. He should only be traded as a TDL type of deal if Philly is out of it.

TK is a fine player, but adding another $5.5m in cap for a wing isn't something MN should be trying to do with Fiala, Kaprizov, Parise, and Zucc all making more than that already. Boldy needs to come in and be the cheap ELC player for the next couple of years to offset the big cap hits.

His development is really going to depend on how he can bounce back to 2019-20 form, he admitted to some local media in Philly that he didn't stay in good enough shape during his time off in the pandemic. I am hoping he can bounce back this year, he is only 24 as well still has a few more years until he should be in his prime.
