Yeah, I think Yzerman would do this because Eichel is a franchise center and how much more appealing is Detroit with Eichel-Larkin down the middle for free agents? I know it’s easier said than done but you get a top pairing defensemen via FA (eg Hamilton) or trade (eg Werenski) and that’s a rock solid core. The discussion for fans isn’t how do we tank for Wright/Lambert and then Bedard/Michkov but rather how do we add complimentary pieces to what we have. I agree with you though as I don’t see Buffalo even remotely entertaining this proposal. Another factor why I think Yzerman would do it is there isn’t anyone in this draft with Eichel upside imo so you’re gambling a few magic beans for a known/quality center locked up with term.

While Detroit would accept this trade they would not do an actual Eichel trade as Buffalo would require much more.
