Vancouver Canucks signed J.T. Miller (7 Years / $8,000,000 AAV)
The guy put up 99 points last year and by the end of the contract the salary cap will be much higher than it is now. He will probably be a much lesser player by then but I don’t think it will hurt like everyone thinks it will

How long can a team run a 20 man roster Has such a thing been done before
I remember seeing a game where the Devils could only dress 18 or 19 in one of the years they had Kovalchuk because they did not have cap space to bring someone up. So it has happened before.

Cup Contendies - for real - Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ihopeigetit</b></div><div>If you say so; sorry, I did edit my last comment and added a few things - maybe that will clear things up</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Jarry is our goalie and they will extend him. Pens will have the space after this year. .
Every position has different values attached for different reasons. Goalie PROSPECTS don't hold a ton of value. While I'm aware he's a good prospect, if he was worth a 1st or even a 2nd, he would have been drafted in those rounds. VERY few goalies go in the first or second round and there's little they can do outside the NHL to increase their value. It really isn't until they prove something at the NHL level does their value get to 1st round pick return levels.
Now, please don't confuse what I'm saying as far as his ceiling relative to his value. Shesterkin went in the 4th round, but even he wouldn't have garnered that kind of return until he hit the NHL.</div></div>
It is very difficult to evaluate goalie prospects but looking at the numbers for the to in this trade Blomqvist had much better numbers last year in Liiga vs Portillo in NCAA. Blomqvist is a year younger and was taken in the second round where Portillo was taken in the third. So let’s say for arguments sake their value is a wash.
That puts this trade at Olofsson for Pettersson, a 1st, and a 2nd. If we go with what capfriendly had been saying all summer of Pettersson is worth a 3rd, which was when he was a cap dump and now that he is not his value is probably higher. He is also signed for less and longer than Olofsson and younger. This trade is Olofsson for a 1,2,and 3 which is very unrealistic. I would say Olofsson is at best worth a 2 and a 3. For him to add an entire pick to his value by the deadline he would need to be close to if not over 30 goals and 50-60 points. If that is the case then there is no way Buffalo should trade him.

A reasonable Tkachuk trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EsoYeezus69</b></div><div>Even if Tkachuk is the better player, I don’t think they have the leverage to get a player like Robertson with their current situation. I think high end prospects/players will be what they’ll get, not franchise players.</div></div>
I feel like there is such a high demand for him that the price will likely be very high so I think they will be asking for a lot. If I were Dallas this deal is the most I would give up and it think that some desperate team will give way to much.

A reasonable Tkachuk involves Robertson. But that is not a good idea for Dallas.

Extensions for Lafreniere and Miller
Highly doubt Laf considers 8 years unless he is over a ppg this year and if he does it will be way more than 6.4.
If he gets close to .5 ppg but still under this year I doubt he does more than 2 or 3 years and that would be probably be around 3 but may be as high as 4 if it is 3 years.
If he is between .5 and .75 ppg then he may do 4 years but that would be bad for nyr but should be closer to 5 mil.
If he is over .75 then it will probably be 3-5 years closer to your number.
NYR should try to do 3 years and line it up with the end of Trouba’s deal. That way they can spend with term on others and not have to worry about how to find cap space for Laf

I think it is a bit much for just one season to earn it but he can certainly and I expect he will grow into it. May not be one that is a steal of a deal but probably a fair deal. If it was 7.25 it could have become a great deal.

I think there is a one or two day window that teams can talk to agents before free agency opens. That is how Johnny hockey knew he was not going back to Calgary. His agent know that other teams were going to offer much more.

That is not a bad number for the aav but probably a year too long. But they are clearly not going to still be pushing by year 4 so the term does not really matter.
It does allow them to do some stuff tomorrow if they are going to be moving one of the d that everyone keeps saying will get moved.
