Imagine saying that 3 years ago and people would’ve said your crazy. It’s kinda sad to see if you ask me. There was a time I remember when Burns and Karlsson straight up dominated.

Kane’s actually legitimately valuable unlike a lot of those other contracts. But yeah it’ll be tough to get rid of some of those. Burns is another one which isn’t as terrible but I doubt many teams even entertain the though or taking on some of these guy.

As I’ve said before though sign me up for a Vlasic - Skinner swap.

We would need to take dead cap back because almost every team is up against the cap but Burns and Kane have value. We are stuck with Karlsson, Vlasic and Jones.

Karlsson is immovable, moving him on that contract would be nearly impossible.

Burns make have some value but you’re either retaining or taking on a bad contract. But maybe you could get a package of B-prospects or mid round picks.

Kane I think would have legit value; you’re taking money back too but maybe you could get a late 1st rounder for him

Jones is going to be bought out this offseason and they’ll just completely redo their goaltending, probably a lot like the Blackhawks did, taking a bunch of unproven guys and crossing their fingers one pans out

Vlasic for Skinner was shot down my Elliotte Friedman if I remember.

Its a good time for the Sharks to find somewhere that will take Burns at 50% retained, absolutely some team will pay for a 4M Burns who is leading the league in ice time and has looked really solid this year.

The only place Karlsson is going is the LTIR

Can't see Kane being moved, just too much money for too long for a team to want him right now.

Jones is likely to be in the AHL very soon...

If the Sharks are going full rebuild, now might be a good time to find a spot for Hertl. Meier has also struggled this year and if he rebounds, should be considered as a piece at the deadline.

It isn’t. I can concede that it isn’t good, but a lot of people on here like to pretend it’s as bad as Eriksson or Vlasic which just isn’t the case.

It's certainly not as bad as folks make it out to be. Obviously it would be nice if it were 2-3 years shorter though. Much more moveable too.

People here seem to think Couture also has some terrible, unmovable contract, when 8 mil is probably the going rate for a decent 1C/elite 2C.

Coutures contract is totally fine minus the term. He’s worth every penny of what he’s getting paid at the moment, but when he declines in maybe 3-4 years it might get ugly.

Agree, but a team trading for Couture probably wants to win now, and has less concerns for 4+ years down the line. So IMO his value is still very high, at least higher than what I see a lot of people valuing him on this site.

San Jose would be blessed to do the Buffalo trade. Vlasic is toast, Skinner is just hated by the coach and plays less than 12 minutes a game. San Jose has to pay Buffalo a lot to do that trade

Skinner can easily rebound and more than likely will. His stats are a direct result of being buried by Krueger

I may be mistaken, but he is in his 3rd year in Buffalo and has regressed every year. I'd move him while there is time.

The only issue with finding suitors is that these guys have NMC/NTC... Karlsson and Vlasic have complete power over where they go/if they even wanna go. They could flat out reject and stay with the team. Kane, Burns and Jones all have 3-team lists. They could easily submit 3 teams that would never go for them because of their cap and it ends there. If they did give real teams though, a deal would be so hard to strike because of how tight cap is. As mentioned, SJ would have to take cap back.

call him what you want. vlasic at least can still be used. Stick him with someone who can skate and you can use him as a valuable bottom 4 pairing. i mean look at vlasics advanced stats, guy is at 70 percent d zone start time and majority of the time has played with rookie d partner on the 3rd pair. Skinner might have more in the tank but look at his stats. A. 1 pt for a guy your paying 8 mil a year. B. His possession stats are awful.

I still think SJ would have to throw in a sweetner but its as lopsided as your saying here
