Description
Toews, Seabs, and Shaw retire
Connor Murphy resigns 5 x 5
Chicago drafts Luke Hughes
Kane C
Keith A
Murphy A
Reichal plays AHL and Hughes play with Michigan

The conditions for Toronto is pretty crazy, but Nylander did put up 26 points in 65 games playing bottom 6 minutes, and if Nylander breaks out with Toronto, Chicago would look like idiots for giving up on him.

Ultimately I think if Nylander gets traded, he will be in a package deal and not the main piece because his value is so hard to determine right now. Next season theres room for him on the 3rd line if they dont intend on bringing Reichel up right away, but otherwise there isnt really a spot for him. I still like him over Hagel at that spot because Hagel has bricks for hands and Hagel over carpenter on the 4th line

That's why there's conditions because he's playing on a stacked MPL he could break out. I do believe the best fit is the 3rd line LW and the Hawks should sign either Saad or Coleman to play 3rd line RW with him and Kurashev

With how Janmark is playing I think we should bring him back. Not sure how realistic it is to get Saad for a third time or Rinne but don’t hate the ideas. He’d be good veteran backup for young Lankinen. I’m not so sure Hagel is the LW3 answer. Janmark would fit that spot better.

Bowman likes to bring back Hawks that won cups, Bringing back Saad would be a power move since we have Zadorov and Saad, but Saad could be replaced by Coleman. Janmark is good but rather not pay him 2-3 for last season and take away minutes from Kurashev, Suter, and Hagel. Rinne signing is like the Lundqvist signing get a legendary veteran that can serve as a backup for their young goalie

lol at the conditions on that nylander pick. He's got a career high of 10 goals and 26 points, and hasnt played a game this season because of knee surgery. He's probably not worth Dermott straight up right now

Hard no on the Dermott for Nylander.

"his career high" Nylander was a rookie playing bottom six minutes, which is good stats

This is 2022 and Dermott is a 3rd pairing defensemen for the leafs and needs a change in scenery and will be taking time away from Sandin if he does stay on the leafs in 2022, The Nylander Conditions are only for IF just IF he breaks out.
Quit overvaluing your players, Dermott is worth a 3rd not a f*cking 1st and most likely going to be selected by Seattle

telling people to quit over valuing their players after what you're asking for Nylander is really really funny

A 3rd and dermott for Nylander (who still has potential), isn't overvaluing him
The fact is in Nylander 1st full rookie year he put up 26 points playing bottom 6 minutes and especially playing on Toronto's offense could break out

And? Dermott is stuck behind Rielly and Muzzin and hasnt had the chance to 'break out' either and all his stats are just as good if not better for a defender. He could break out on chicago's blue line!

No comment on the trade atm, just want to clarify something. Dermott (2015 draft pick) is a 3rd pair Dman, end of story, but Nylander (2016 draft pick) is a guy who still has potential?

    Seems a bit hypocritical, no?

Dermott has been playing with the leafs since 2017 even before Muzzins was traded to the leafs, Dermott has had a lot more chances with the leafs than Nylander in Chicago, If one of the two players were to break out it would be Nylander, because he would get more chances on Toronto's offense than Dermott on a Chicago B-line

Cool, none of this means that nylander is remotely more valuable than dermott. Especially qhen you're missing 4-6 months for knee surgery and have no tangible track record of being good.

That's fine, I will agree his knee injury hurt his value but He's shown signs to being good, but Chicago hasn't given him minutes or a steady line but was able to put up 26 points anyways. Dermott is going to be a top choice for Seattle and a 3rd isn't a bad trade value for Nylander

Because Dermott has been in the league for a while compared to Nylander and has gotten more chances compared to Nylander.

For a rookie playing bottom 6 minutes they are good,
Nylander was 10th in rookies in points last year over Ilya Mikheyev, Jack Hughes, Kakko, and Marino

Jack Roslovic who massively underperformed and was disgruntled to the point where he wanted out got a 3rd round pick. Dermott has been developing, defence take longer. Dermott's been excellent this year and is only third pair because of Toronto's improved depth. Moving to Chicago he's easily their best left handed d-man and arguably their best d-man. The fact that you have him as a healthy scratch shows that you know nothing about him and haven't watched him play. Not saying he's worth a 1st, but screwing at people for "overvaluing players" when you're saying a young, NHL experienced d-man that has top 4 written all over him is only worth a 3rd is criminally undervaluing him.

If that's your offer, again Leafs walk away easily. They have no need for Nylander who's spending most of this season on LTIR and there's no telling how he rebounds from barely playing hockey in 2 years because of a pandemic and long term injury.

Then you want Toronto adding on a conditional pick? If anything it's Chicago sending a pick.

Sorry to hurt your feelings, the offer is just bad.

Because Dermott has been in the league for a while compared to Nylander and has gotten more chances compared to Nylander.

Being in the league longer is nothing but a credit to Dermott; it has no influence on his upside compared to if he wasn't playing in the NHL. He also hasn't gotten many chances to play higher (he's been blocked by Muzzin) and when he has, he's done well.

He's also on a stacked Toronto team, While the hawks offense wasn't good last year, your point

He also played 4th line minutes under a coach that didn't utilize him properly for the first month and a half of the season. He had rotating line mates which is tough to form chemistry with if you don't get normal reps. He played 2nd unit PP with the like of Kerfoot, Kapanen, etc who aren't the best offensively.

I wouldn't trade Spezza straight up for Nylander. Spezza still produces, is cheaper, provides more of an impact, and won't be coming off 2 years of virtually not playing.
