This is awful. Sure Kaprisov is better than Jones but Jones is miles better than most others in that 5th round. Drafting Pulju was a slam dunk at the time. Imagine if he picked Chycrun lol. How on earth do you know that MacTavish or whoever would’ve drafted better? Just awful.

You can't just throw out just his bad moves and forget his easy decisions.

If it wasn't for his terrible management you wouldn't have been in the spot to draft him.

So essentially you’re saying what if the Oilers didn’t make bad trades, and hit on every single draft pick. You could do this with any team.

I never really trust "what could've beens" that also rewrite entire drafts to pick all the players that panned out with hindsight.

You mean the GM with the time machine that would have had the foresight to do all these great picks not in the top 10. I hate posts like this because it just assumes that if some of that bad moves hadn’t been made they would be in the exact same position to take the same draft picks and make the good signings.

Without the draft picks its still a great team. Its only for fun anyway.

Realistically if Chiarelli wasn't a meathead the team would probably look something like:

Good top 9, average defense, same bad goaltending. That's my best guess.
