Nash isn't worth a 3rd. Interest is non-existent from NYR regardless. Think he may fit back with Boston.

So penguins pay half and give him away for free but wings give up 2 picks?

Minnesota just gave up a conditional 7th for Bjugstad, highly doubt he is on 4 different teams within a month long span and I also highly doubt his value increases that drastically in such a short amount of time. Wow, this is bad

None of this makes Columbus any better.

TOR trade- if Columbus is moving Korpisalo, he will be in a trade to get a 2nd line center, not a bunch of meh.

Ottawa trade- Dubinsky’s contract is fully insured so Columbus doesn’t have to pay anyone to take him, he just goes on LTIR.

MIN trade- neither team is making that trade.

Other notes- Jenner on the 2nd line is brutal. Kerfoot isn’t a top 6 center either, Johnsson would end up on the 3rd line with Jenner and Bremstrom. Bjorkstrand is on the top line with PLD and Texier, 2nd line is Nyquist, Kerfoot and Atkinson.... that’s just not going to get it done.

Sorry, this is a lot of moves to not get any better, and arguably get worse.

Coming from a Leaf fan, I'd drop Engvall and Campbell and add Andersen. Only owed 1M on a 5M cap hit. Engvall is easily replaceable with a cheaper 4th line RW, a position he doesn't play btw.

Does anything here make sense for any of the teams involved?

Does for the Leafs. That's a lot of salary off the books on players that are not core ones. Gives them flexibility to sign Pietro and Savard solidifies their D corps, especially if Pietro signs and he's on the 2nd pairing. Replacing Engvall and Campbell with Andersen gives CBJ the best goalie tandem in the league IMO. Say what you will about Andersen, but given a defensive team in front of him, he'll be lights out. And at his actual dollars compared to cap hit, CBJ wins that trade for the 1 year at least. This team will be even tougher to play against.

Not sure why the Min and Det trades are happening. Seems over complicated.

As you’ve clearly described why Columbus doesn’t do this, we don’t want or need a goalie or anything else added, if Korpisalo is moved it’s part of a package for a 2nd line center.

What AJP said. None of this reflects organizational philosophy... or reality.

Which is what Kerfoot's game is built for. He needs work on his faceoffs, but he is an offense first C that can play in his own zone.

It is definitely debatable that this CBJ team is any better than what they have now, but to me the value on the Leafs trade seems fair.

Then Detroit retains 50% salary and trads bjugstad to Pittsburg for Matt Murray and a 3rd. who knew just moving bjug made him more valuable

Kerfoot is a 3C on a contender. If he was a 2C, then the Avs would have had no need to trade for Kadri. Whether the value is fair or not is besides the point. The assets we're receiving don't align with our targets and organizational goals.

If you think a package of Wennberg, Anderson, and Dano should net you a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, then I think you need to be drug tested, because that's insane.
