Ducks Fans - Willing to move Gibson

Description
Would Ducks fans entertain offers on Gibson? As on Oilers fan, I am not 100% sure on their team situation, but I would imagine they are in the beginning of a rebuilding phase. Best case scenario, a rebuild take 3-6 years to begin to make runs at the playoffs, and 5+ years to be cup contenders.
Based on these relatively arbitrary assumptions, that runs through most of Gibsons contract and prime years. With the current demand for goalies, I would think Gibson would fetch an incredible return.

My trade is probably off in value but just taking a random stab at it.
- Koskinen to be the new goalie (only 2 years left and put up good numbers)
- Russell, Anaheim has cap room, Russells only due $1.5M in actual dollars.
- Broberg, our top d-prospect. I'd prefer not to move him, but open to it to solidify our starting goalie for the foreseeable future.
- 14th overall pick, great pick in a deep draft. Would be their 3rd 1st rounder in the 2020 draft. Good start to a rebuild
***if not enough, could add Puljujarvi. If too much, maybe change Broberg to a couple slightly lesser prospects.

I just want to hear Ducks fans current thoughts on their situation and maybe a probability of moving Gibson.

I don’t know how I feel about this. Talking about some assets I’m completely against moving but this is interesting enough has to be taken with some serious consideration.

I mean fair, like if I was a Ducks fan, I would absolutely not want to move him. But from the perspective from management, you have a potentially Elite goalie, signed long-term, but not real chance of being cup contenders for another 5+ years, in which said goalie will be in his early 30s. From my perspective, thats a case of a goalies prime just not lining up with the teams current state. And I completely understand the idea of still icing a competitive goalie to give your team a chance night in and night out

Yea, I was always in the camp of keeping the 1st rounder and top prospects like Broberg, but watching the playoffs, most of these teams have that goalie that can steal you a game. Finding one in free agency more often than not results in a horrible contract. Gibson signed long term might be one of the more costly targets, but I think it would be worth it.

I hate being the guy saying no or add. But yea this package is just mediocre for the talent EDM gets back. Don't forget the team friendly deal he is on. Lastly, Broberg a good prospect but is useless for us.

I wouldn't say they're 5+ years away from contention. They've got a very solid young core coming up, and defensively, if they were to add a solid RD, they'd be in pretty good shape.

Gibby is untouchable though. If they went out and said "Hey, we're blowing it up completely!" the haul for Gibby would be huge. 15 OA is nice, and Broberg is a nice prospect, but the Ducks have like 865 LD prospects. I look at Martin Jones, who was a backup and netted a 1st+really good college prospect in Kuraly.

Drais or McDavid would be the only players I’d want. Gibson has more than just a play value for Anaheim

I’d accept that from Anaheim’s perspective, only if, Anaheim had another decent goalie, other than Dostal, in their system. But a pretty even trade imo.

A dump in Russell, a goaltender with league average numbers, a good prospect and a mid 1st? Nahhhhhh.

I strongly disagree with being 5+ years out, the team did great drafting in their last year years of the Kesler/Perry/Getz window, picking up some solid specs in Terry Comtois Steel Jones Larsson Mahura and BOG who can fill out the middle 6 and bottom 4 sooner rather than later, and have since sucked and gotten other guys like Zegras, 6 OA, Thrun, and Guhle who can fill out more depth and give us 2 legit top line forwards within 1-2 years, leaving the only real hole by 2022-23ish a top line winger (Rakell can probably do good enough there with 2 studs in Zegras and Rossi/Raymond ideally) and a good RD to play with Lindholm (similar age to Gibby, still will be in his prime for a few years) which hopefully can be filled by Clarke in 2021

calling Broberg his is a stretch, he would have been an ok pick where they got Lavoie (who is also a better prospect than Broberg lol)

A deep draft would allow for Anaheim to take Schneider, Anaheim grabs Broberg who has top 4 potential. Anaheim might be able to grab Drysdale at 6OA. That would make Anaheim’s defensive depth look promising for the future. That might allow Anaheim to trade Manson for a proven goal scorer. Plus Anaheim has been taking cap dumps already so idk why that’s an issue for you lol

Plus Anaheim is wasting Gibson’s years. Edmonton has goaltending issues. It would help both sides. Anaheim builds defensive depth, Edmonton gets an elite goalie.

Yea thats fine. I was more so looking for discussion and the actually probability of him getting moved. I just threw down a deal for the sake of it. No doubt Gibson is a valuable piece.

The trade was more just a quick hit to feel out Ducks perspectives. I would probably be good with adding another good piece or two. Could throw in a Rodrigue or Skinner (probably our best 2 goalie prospects, neither with Elite potential but have both showed flashes of promise) and maybe a good forward prospect too.

Better idea-Take Drysdale at 6 if he's still there, if not, grab whichever forward has dropped to you, then at 26, take whichever of Barron or Grans is available (Preferably Grans). Then, with the $9+ mil in cap space, target a solid RD, and someone else in FA.

When we're talking about Broberg, sure, he might someday be a top 4 D, but the Ducks have Hampus and Fowler, and then any of Guhle, Djoos, Mahura or Larsson to fill in the roster.

Or, if you're hellbent on trading Gibby, anything less than a top 6 fwd, a 1st and a top prospect would be a huge loss for the Ducks. He's one of, if not the top goalies in the league, has a terrific contract with a whole lot of term on it.
