On top of the fact that noone is going to take your cap dumps for nothing. Ferland just started practicing yesterday and is expected to be available for the restart and definitely be healthy to play next season so you cannot just out him on LTIR because you don't like his contract. Teams would never be in cap trouble if they could just dump bad contracts on LTIR or too other teams without paying any price. Unfortunately in the real world the Canucks are going to have to trade a player they won't want to or let one of their UFA'S walk that they don't want to because of their cap mess. Only other solution is too package there prospects and picks with their bad contracts and hope they can find enough takers.

Nobody is taking on that Loui Eriksson contract without a 1st round pick being attached to it, And the rest of those guys will cost you at least 2nd and 3rd round picks to move them.

Can't imagine why Minnesota would make that deal. They don't need a bottom 6 forward and Sutter has a higher cap hit than Rask. Toss in a pick or something and maybe they do it to pay Sutter to sit in the press box or something but they're not getting a useful asset. Rask was actually useful at times for the Wild, he's just horribly overpaid for the need they have for him.

Add Hoglander and Juolevi and Buffalo says yes. You aren't getting a good RHD with term for a overpaid, overaged LW who's prime was 5+ seasons ago
