I should start by saying I don't think there's anything of substance behind the rumour.
Obviously the Canucks would be looking for a young defenseman, preferably right-handed. Ideally a trade would be as close to a 1-for-1 deal as possible. Some of these targets are more realistic than others.
I think the best ones are Pulock/Dobson or Pesce. The Islanders could use a young winger and have an excess of right-handed defensemen. Moving Pulock would save them a little bit of cap space which they need, while moving Dobson would keep the current team intact. Both would be ideal partners for Hughes, which is the role that we would be trying to find. Pulock in particular would give us a modern day Keith - Seabrook pairing. Pesce would fill a similar role, but I'm not sure if Carolina would be as ready to make a move like this.
Boeser is good, hes not great, hes not elite, he was the 3rd best forward on his line and has serious injury history.
Lets tone down the expectations here

Doesn't really drive play much at all either. But a very good shot. He's like a poor man's Debrincat.

hes a guy who can play with elite players, there is value in that but hes going to be a complimentary piece on a very good team who is ready for a cup run.
I haven't did the comps myself but I am curious at how this years seasons of Boeser and Burakovsky stack up
charting hockey had a really good twitter thread about boeser

Depends how you look at it. expected goal models don't love Boeser because he derives a lot of his value from his shooting talent. So if you're looking at xWAR. Burakovsky is better significantly. But Boeser takes the edge in terms of WAR by a healthy margin. You're paying for Boeser's shot, like Laine,
McAvoy a for sure no, and Carlo is most likely off limits as well. They’re cost controlled and they don’t really have strong depth on the right side after those guys. I really like Boeser as a player and I think he would be an awesome fit, just can’t see it coming at the cost of either of the two players above

Shot is elite no denying that but curious of overall impacts, reality you want to plug him into either top 6 lines, youre not
Building a line around him,
Just was curious how they stack up against one another bc Boeser would be filling that same role as bura.
In this trade scenario he’s a nice to have but in no way avs need to spend any significant asset to get Boeser. Avs set a comfortable price (means no byram or Newhook) canucks don’t like it then good luck finding a team that will
Pulock, Mcavoy, Seider, and Byram, maybe even Boqvist are all off limits, even for a player as good as Boeser. I think the most fair deal would be to try and work out a deal for Pesce considering the depth they have on the backend, even then I am not sure they do it.

Long story short: very similar production overall, Burakovsky had an inflated S% and better production per 60, Boeser gets a **** ton of PP time though. imo if they both had the exact same usage I would bet that Burakovsky would outproduce Boeser
The only player on that list that Brock Boeser might return is Filip Hronek, And that's only if we draft Jamie Drysdale. Boeser isn't returning 99.9% of those players.
