AZ fans, is dvorak available and if so is this enough to get him? Would love to get the home town kid back to Chicago. Assume extensions on Brodin and Saad for the sake of this post

Flip Kapanen to the Wild instead of all that junk and i would seriously consider making the deal - Brodin and Hartman for Strome and Kapanen.

Toronto deal has been pretty widley agreed upon on this site. You definetly could be right about the AZ deal, I really wasn't sure

Zero chance. Strome for Brodin has been widley agreed upson by both sides, and cagulla is better than hartman and Cagulla is only like 7 months older so age isn't really an agument. Sikura is an NHL level player who just hasn't got a chance in Chicago

No problem. (For me) Brodin would be off the table then. I feel very confident that Brodin’s worth is greater than Strome’s is.

Tbh Raanta on his own probably costs you at least a 3rd or 2.

And Dvorak has more value than guys like Nylander and Strome. I don’t think this starts the conversation. (He’s closer to Debrincat’s ballpark than Nylander’s)

Not even close man. Debrincat is 2 years younger and has had a season with 41 goals. Dvorak's highest is 18. Debrincat as 87 goals in 234 career games (.37 gpg) at 22 years old and dvorak has 50 goals in 246 games (.20 gpg) at 24 years old. Debrincat is also a career .74 ppg while dvorak is at a career .47 ppg. I like dvorak but he is no where close to debrincat in terms of value. He's more than nylander for sure but way less than cat.

oh I totally agree that Debrincat is a much better offensive player. Not even a conversation. The value for Dvorak is that he's on an awesome contract (Debrincat will be making like 10 mil in 2023-25 while Dvorak will cost less than half that), plays a premium position and is a plus defender. We know from this year's deadline deals for guys like Coleman and Goodrow that Affordable contracts carry a significant amount of weight, and relative to his ability and role, Dvorak has one of the better deals in the league.

I don't think Debrincat will ever make over 10 mil per. Obviously he's at 6.4 for the next 3 years which is very affordable, I think if he can stay around 30-35 goals per year for those 3 years which is a more realistic deal for him, a long term contract around 8 years x 7.5mil per is fair. I think theres no way we give him Kane and Toews money. He will be an RFA anyways so it's not like some other team with tons of cap space can come in and swipe him away from us

With a new tv rights deal and expansion going through. In 3 years the cap could be through the roof.

Not available, and that package isn't in the ballpark, that Dvo contract is a steal, second best on the team (Chychrun's is one of the nest in the league) by a huge margin

Caggs is a better version of Hartman, that would be a downgrade for the Hawks and upgrade for the Wild....and we know both players really well...especially Hartman. Add that plus Strome and a 4th and this is more then enough for Brodin.

Toronto doesn't decline that quickly and if anything Chicago would decline that. As nice as a fast winger is, one on pace for 15 goals this season and a $3.2M cap hit doesn't exactly scream a top 4 defenseman let alone a right handed one. That said, his RFA status and age make this fair, but there is no question the Leafs are filling a bigger need then the Hawks who have Saad, Kubalik, Kane and Debrincat on the wings already...Kap is not nearly as good as any of those 4.

Revisit multiple AGMs that have Strome and a 3rd for Brodin that folks have said is a good trade for both sides.

Brodin’s value.

Okay. I like Brodin for sure, but a center who just turned 23 and had 2 seasons in a row on pace for over 50 points at the age of 21 and 22 doesn't come cheap plus he's a RFA which means Minnesota controls his cost and career.

Brodin is about to turn 27 (in days), and he's going to cost $6.5M ish...a lot more then Strome and 4 years older. He's not a true #1 even though the Hawks would use him as one. Strome's not a true #1C even though the Wild will use as one too. The trade makes sense for both teams and when you factor in age, control of the players career, cost....Strome and Brodin are close. A 4th and getting Caggs over Hartman is more then enough. If it isn't, the Hawks should easily walk away.

Hawks could use a top 3 defenseman for sure, Wild absolutely need a top 6 center.

Everything you just wrote makes sense, is well written, and firmly grounded in solid logic...but i still think the Wild can do better for Brodin’s services.
