Nylander's value isn't that high. I'd say a top 15 pick and 3rd rounder at this point. Leafs should not trade him coming off a bad season last year.

If I'm Guerin and Dubas calls me up to ask what I'd give for Nylander, I'd offer Fiala, Spurgeon at half retention, and Eriksson Ek for Nylander and a 3rd.

Ya the moves would never make sense. After seeing all the new contracts given out Nylander under 7 is a steal for the next 5 years. Everyone has this perception he had a terrible year but after the first month or so when he was up to speed he was as good as he ever was and produced at 5 on 5 in the tops on the league near the end. Just a terrible shooting % which should correct itself next year some if not back to his normal numbers which would have had him on a 20-30 goal pace last year

If we are talking serious here you should ask what's Marners value. He actually has a bit of a chance to be moved. I don't think the leafs get the fair value in him either seeing how he wants to be overpaid, his father is a common plate lunatic, the advanced stats are not really overly in his favor and he doesn't play center.

This year it's chopping up Marner saying he's nowhere close to Matthews and he's not elite talent and the what not but last year he was the second coming of the great. Bottom line, Nylander is not worth more then a top 15 pick and 3rd rounder. Guys who score .5 ppg and .129 gpg while carrying a $7M cap hit just aren't very attractive in this league.

Oh I was not aware you were still stuck in 1995 where point totals are the only thing that deems a players value. He was good last year, didnt score enough but everything else was great.

IMO, Nylander isn't gong to be moved right now. His trade value is low after last year. Leafs aren't moving a RWer, until Marner is signed. His 7m AAV X 5 seems high though his 4.9m annual cash payout is low for a budget conscious team.
Nylander still has the ability to be a good centre. If Tavares or Matthew is injured, it's Nylander who might fill that role.
Next April if the Leafs are knocked out if the first round or miss the playoffs, then there should be a serious thought on moving a big cap (possibly Nylander) for a big cap Dman. Of course a head coach change should be the first priority.

They do. But when everything else is great and they shoot at a way lower percentage than their entire career average, at about age 8-9 you should be smart enough to understand the law of averages that the player will most likely rebound their stats with more time

That was a legitimate offer, I wasn't trying to troll that's just what I'd give for Nylander right now. I called this all the way back a year ago (you can go back to my comment history if you'd like): Nylander had a "down year" since he was playing catch-up the entire year. You can't just enter the league in December having no game experience while everyone else has been playing at an NHL level since September, then expect Nylander to have a monster year. I watch a fair amount of Leafs game solely because Nylander is one of my favorite players (I just love the way he plays Hockey) and I really thought he had a solid year. But you're right, I think $7M is a really solid contract for a guy who could be a PPG player in the near future.

As a leafs fan, I can say that is a legitimate offer that I would accept if Spurgeon came with an extension. Although, if I'm Dubas I would push for Greenway over Erickson Ek.
