<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I will say it all again,

1. These trades are all heavily lopsided (thinking NJ overpays for PR win).

The gap between Quinn and Smith is de minimus.
If there were a trade, it would be Quinn for Smith (with some minor parts perhaps).
And that is it.

2. If Quinn-to-NJ ever happens, it would not occur this year. Or next. Or one after that.

Quinn has 5 years until UFA or NTC/NMC could arrive. So he has little say in picking his destination.
Only real, viable path to NJD in next few years is if he signs 1-3 year extension now.

We will see the three Hughes brothers play together at the 2026 Olympics before they skate together on same NHL team.

3. It is not usually VAN or NJD fans posting these.

So I would suggest to neutral fans that they listen to what both sides have been saying...its not happening.</div></div>

As a Canucks fan we have never had a players like Quinn. Like 50 years of drafting - never had a player like him. He's an absolute dynamo offensively. I know you think he is awful defensively, but he played against other teams #1s the majority of the year and was often playing over 30 minutes a game.

I'm sure Ty Smith is a good player but his numbers are pedestrian. He played crazy sheltered minutes and still was a dash player with negative EV. Quinn has roughly doubled Smith's point totals.

That's like me saying "Hoglander and Jack Hughes are roughly the same player. Maybe we'd have to throw in a 2nd or 3rd."
