I can see why both BUF and COL decline. From the Avs perspective, Girard is too important to COL.

And Kuzy isn't enough of an upgrade on Ryjo.

Mitts would be nice but I can't see Buffalo having a reason to trade him; they can definitely afford to re-sign him, can't they? I don't think the Avs trade a D in-season and, come the offseason, Manson, not Girard, is the first to go.

Buying Kuznetsov out would be far better than retaining 3.9 for another year and taking on Johansen at 4 mil. The Caps still need extensions for McMichael, Protas, and Sandin and can’t afford to take on extra money if Kuznetsov comes off the books.

Clifton is trash. If he didnt shoot right, he would be in the ahl or waived

Buffalo trade isn't bad besides clifton and avs 1st rd pick, I would take them both out.. If avs can resign Casey and Pekka I would do it.

I don't like Pekka, he is not any better than Annunen and I've been overly vocal against Mitts's fit with the Avs. If we want to target a 2c (edit: from the Sabres), look at Cozens(not that he would be made available).

Cozens is def interesting I wonder what the price for him would be. I think behrens and a 1st for a start. I know buffalo needs RHD.

Buffalo needs d, right shot, defense first, physical. No interest in puck movers. We have 4 left shot d already (dahlin, power, Samuelsson, ryan johnson)- dahlin is a little gritty, the others are soft, as is jokiharju. Personally, even with the improvement from mittelstadt and the backslide from cozens, I'm trading mittelstadt well before cozens. Honestly, I don't see the Sabres getting the player they need for mittelstadt, and the easiest thing for our gm to do is just resign him. And that's what's gonna happen. Doesn't matter that we have 4 undersized first round forwards- all knocking on the door for spots, that'll be a problem for another time.

Only physical dman avs have is johnson but he's most likely done after this year and then there's manson but I don't see avs moving him unless it's substantial.

Clifton advanced metrics are really good recently. Lukkonnen is playing great. Mittelstadt is putting good numbers. Sabres can afford to keep those players.

Late 1st brings nothing, because Sabres pipeline is already "over populated"
Girard would be still 3rd best LHD for Sabres, but they already have Ryan Johnson who is very promising.

I could say there is noone in Avalanche roster, that Sabres would be interested trading for.
