No need to be sorry, Only thing that would make Canucks fans sorry is if this trade goes through. Even though we know how brilliant Mittelstadt has become

Nothing in that trade helps the Sabres at all. They don't want spare parts for Mittelstadt.

Lekkerimaki is a very high end prospect. Calling him a spare part would be like another teams fan calling Kulich a spare part. Raty is also a pretty solid prospect, and a 1st is always a good piece. I get not wanting to move Mittelstadt but calling this offer spare parts just isn’t true

Nothing in that trade is a need for the Sabres, so while he's a high end prospect for Vancouver he's another body in an already deep forward prospect group in Buffalo. Sabres don't need 1sts and prospects. Get a top 4 RD with those pieces and move that for Mittelstadt

The trade i wanna see is Mittelstadt for Carlo
Boston won’t do that mid-season, but hopefully they strike out in the playoffs again & that gets them to realize they really need a legit top6 Center
We can send Clifton back to them in the deal as well,
so they cover themselves at RD. Plus they know Clifton as he’s played well for them. I would even retain half of that helps

Ideally, we could also talk the Bruins into a UPL + (a 2nd maybe?) for Ullmark

Who knows if Boston would even consider deals like these….
But i can only hope, Lol

I mean... I would think the Bruins probably accept a first, Kuzmenko, Raty, and Lekkeramaki for Carlo lol.

Hronek and Chychrun were both acquired for a first+ last year. Why didn't Buffalo use their unlimited amount of first round picks (which they don't need) or prospects (which they have so many WJC MVP Lekkeramaki is just a spare part) to acquire one of those guys?

Do they?
It’s good value, but NONE of those pieces help Boston win a Cup in the near future
My point is that they need a top6 Center NOW

My guess is that they weren’t high on Hronek & Chychrun is a LH shot
Or those teams wanted a prospect or prospects that we didn’t wanna part with

Again, just a guess, but it seems logical
Ppl act like making trades is easy, but it CLEARLY isn’t
Otherwise we’d see a lot more of them

Right... but according to Sabres fans you have so many prospects you don't need anymore, or first round picks for that matter. Do you not understand that is the currency in how players are acquired?

If you just wait for a hockey deal where you trade your position of strength for a position of need, you're probably going to be waiting some time.

Are u talking about what i personally realize?
Bc I’m talking about real life
I’m not the GM of the Sabres
And while you & i could probably bang out a trade on here fairly easily, that’s just not how it goes between NHL GMs

Also,
Your first sentence is quite the mischaracterization of the situation with out prospect pool
Just bc we have a lot of good prospects, that doesn’t mean we’re gonna just toss them around like they’re $5 bills

Well it's a contradiction because people (not neccesarily you.. although you did like the post) are saying "Nothing in that trade is a need for the Sabres, so while he's a high end prospect for Vancouver he's another body in an already deep forward prospect group in Buffalo. Sabres don't need 1sts and prospects. Get a top 4 RD with those pieces and move that for Mittelstadt".

Do you see the part, again, where it says 'Sabres don't need 1sts and prospects'.

So when they are other teams' firsts and prospects they are worthless but when they are the Sabres you're 'not going to toss them around like $5 bills'.

First rounders are the currency of the NHL. It's like if you had a car and wanted a truck but instead of selling your car for cash and buying a truck you only wanted to trade it for a truck. That obviously limits your available market and is very likely going to result in not getting top value for your car.

Regardless I don't think Mittlestadt is a fit for the Canucks team at all so we can all happily go our seperate ways.

BUF needs to get older, not younger. We've already got 1sts and prospects. We've already sold our cars for cash. We're shopping for a truck.
