So you'd rather have McGroarty than possibly Beckett Sennecke, Konsta Helenius, Cole Eiserman, Berkly Catton, Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, Michael Hage or someone else?
That's without taking into account what else it would cost. I would rather have Johnny Burgers and whichever stud we take a shot at above.

Detroit can get a better pick at 15OA than McGroarty.

Make it Ehlers & McGroarty, Kyler Conner and your next two 1st and 2nd picks and I am still saying a resounding no on Seider.

First off NO. Danielson is our top prospect.
All these trades are going to be based off the Calgary trade. Calgary retained a huge chunk of salary for two years in that trade. Without retention NJ doesn't do the trade and Calgary would not have received a late 1st.
Everyone is missing this point in their Ullmark trade proposals. I don't see his return being big, especially without an extension.

Without an extension the Wings wouldn't even pick up the phone. No point sending out assets for a rental.
If he is extended, then this becomes very interesting.

I Miss Jim Nill
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>First off, Fabbri is a rental.
Second, Walman is a LhD.
Third, no credible reports have us shopping Trevor Zegras.
Fourth, the hilariously ridiculous idea that two kids, neither of whom has ever played a single NHL game and one of whom has never even played a single professional hockey game on the North American continent, are right now more valuable than a 0.73 PPG proven top-6 forward is typical hopeful homerism. There is a gulf of difference between potential, even projected potential, and proven performance.
Fifth, as I recall, DeBrincat was traded for pick #7, pick #39 and pick #72.
You stand corrected.</div></div>
I miss-read the rental AND Lhd comment as you referring to only Walman, I stand corrected with that.
As to DeBrincat: July 9th, 2023, Alex DeBrincat traded for Dominik Kubalik, Donovan Sebrango, 2024 4th rounder, 2024 1st (Wings send the worst of our pick or Boston, we sent Boston pick 25OA).
And 1st round potential always carries a high value. Anaheim literally just paid a premium to get Cutter, a guy who hadn't at that point stepped on NHL ice. His value is 100% potential.

Unlikely Blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>What I see is the Redwings unloading every problem contract on their roster, on top of getting two top 6 forwards both young and under long contract or team control, and another 10 million dollars retained by the Ducks.
And the best piece of payment we get is a guy who just massively regressed, in the WHL.</div></div>
I would agree that this trade is ridiculous BUT don't ask Red Wings fans to overvalue Zegras, then turn around and mock our highest value prospect. Dude was on a terrible Brandon team and once traded to a good team, balled out, carrying his team in the playoffs. Many in the Wings community think he is a dark horse to break our middle to top six this year.
People are only throwing out Zegras trades because it is literally reported that your GM is shopping him. You don't shop players that you want to keep.

First off Walman is not a rental, two years remaining on a great contract for a first pairing D-Man.
Danielson and Sandin-Pellikka > Zegras.
The reports are out, they are shopping Zegras. He is coming off his worst year and his value is at its lowest.
DeBrincat is a higher value player and was traded for a late 1st (25th OA), bottom six player and B-C level prospect.
With that as a model, a trade would look like Zegras for 2025 1st (top-15 protected), Rasmussen, and Alexandre Doucet (you could change the prospect up a level to William Wallinder and lower the current player to Joe Veleno or Robby Fabbri).

Detroit offers:
Michael Rasmussen, Jake Walman and a 2nd
Middle six player with good size you can plug into your lineup who is cost controlled for four years.
Top pairing D-Man who can score on a good contract for two more years.

Buying out Maatta makes zero sense. He is on an expiring contract and is a serviceable D-man. Maatta would fetch a decent pick with retention at the deadline.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aecliptic</b></div><div>Trouba's value is not much considering his contract. Youre also not gonna find many takers, nor teams that Panarin will waive for, on 11.6m AAV.
However, Im not a GM, Im just trying to move contracts here to see what the addition cap space could provide us. However, the point is Yzerman wouldnt entertain his even for a second without us taking back their garbage contracts in Chiarot and Holl.</div></div>
This gives the Rags 3-4 million in cap space, which is very valuable. I would agree that without retention, Trouba is hard to move. I would think that one better asset would go, like Rasmussen
Wings would add a true star in the Bread Man and a local psycho in Trouba.
