That playoff run pushed him over the edge for Verbeek, he likes guys that have that dog in them. Got his height late so they taught him to play the small areas like a small guy, then suddenly became 6'3". 3OA may end up being a bit of a reach in the end but I think this kid is going to silence a lot of the haters.

People don't realize that public lists aren't gospel. NHL teams lists are drastically different.

Verbeek was never going Demidov, if Lindstrom didn't have the injury issues I'm sure he would have been the pick, but a herniated disk is a major red flag, ask anyone who's had one. 3-10 was wide open, and Senekke was 9th on EP. Verbeek knew something we didn't.

Wheeler on the Athletic floated the idea of the Ducks taking Senneke so I wasn't too shocked by it. Wouldn't have been my pick but I trust the guys that get paid to do this over my own opinion all day, every day. The Ducks like the guy they like and take him regardless of what the consensus says.

Absolutely love trading up to take Solberg. That's an awesome pick at that spot.

I've had one and surgery was quick and effective to completely and permanently solve the issue. Of course my body isn't seeing the same rigors that a pro hockey player is under but I also don't have access to the same medical care as them. Nor do I care about doing rehab to the Nth degree like an athlete would.

Point being I think the concerns over the back issue Lindstrom had is over blown. I doubt it's a big a red flag to the Ducks. Instead I just think they like Senneke more.

I'm okay with Sennecke but I don't like the Solberg pick. There were some nice RW and RD prospects there and no matter how much the staff liked Solberg, at some point you just gotta say our previous choices were good enough at LD.

I'll admit, it's starting to scare the **** out of me that we have no 1RD and where in our system, and there's minimal options in UFA the next couple seasons.

It felt like the safe pick again lol but I am happy with it personally.

I feel like I am going to enjoy watching the Ducks again soon like I did after watching the greatest playoff goalie performance destroy Detroit in 02-03 . Niedermeyer, Getzlaf, Selanne, Kariya Rucchin, Carney..... now McTavish, Sennecke, Stiam, Carlsson, Fowler. Not to mention the sick new look the team has (although the black gloves scare me with the white jerseys).
