Guentzel gets more term. 5 year deal for Jarvis is probably one of the only terms that doesn’t happen. Chatty likely gets 3+ on the market and is priced out of CAR. Need to prioritize right side of D over left.

I was going to phrase it as that the Hurricanes are going to have to pay the Blue Jackets a lot to buy Kotkaniemi out for them.

No from Columbus. KK is an expensive 3C, who may grow into an okay-but-not-great 2C.

We have cheaper-better KK (Jenner), cheaper-younger-better KK (Sillinger), and bigger-better-Russian KK (Voronkov) already in the same role.

He might, and if he's not giving up assets to do so, that's...fine. Just ill-advised IMO, and you could (and should) get CAR to pay something to do so, even if it's not much.

I imagine the outlook for KK when that contract was signed was a lot rosier than the reality of it 2+ years later.

Pretty high internally. Would need an overpay to move him. They see him as a top 4 RD who can run first PP. Would need a young, cost controlled top 4 RD who can run 1 PP to move him. Which obviously wouldn’t make sense lol
