CHI would want a more clearly defined pick for taking Atkinson. ANA is overdue to take a jump in the standings. The CBJ 2nd round pick might do the trick.

A team who has zero hopes to even be top half in the league, getting a 2nd for a 4th for taking one year of a contract (while you have 33mm in cap space with menial FA's to sign) isn't worth it??? Jeez, that's a horrible take. It's Chicago, the Wuertz's have plenty of money and you just double your chances at a lotter ticket in a much more defined and successful round.

Just because they have the cap space doesn't mean they need to do you a favor and take your sh***y contracts.

CBJ 2nd would also be -25, they're most likely keeping their pick this year.

But Flyers has no reason to trade futures for cap space which they don't need. They ain't signing Skjei or Toffoli.

Hey pot, meet kettle. It’s not about the $ it’s about the player. Atkinson is undersize (5’8”), old (34) put up under 15 goals & under 30 points while collecting just shy of $6 mil. It would take more than a 2 round bump for the Hawks to take ice time away from prospects they want to be here in the future for a guy at the stage of his career that Atkinson is at. Flyers are more likely to buy him out than pay the real cost to another team to make him go away.
