As a jackets fan this trade is one of the few that I’ve seen on here that I would consider. I think the team would rather just stick with laine unless he wants out though

Yeah, I think that works for Laine. It's juuuuust enough that both fanbases are a little uncomfortable, so it's probably about right?

FWIW I still think it's best to hold onto him and hope for a bounceback ourselves, but if Laine requests a trade or the new GM decides to move on from him, this is something that would work.

Sandin is the odd man out. MF is better we need a true top pairing guy and AA is cheaper

Does Laine really still have that kinda value? Honest question. I haven't followed him closely for a while now but the number of games he's missed over the last five years is concerning.

Also, why pay extra for two years of retention at 1.7M if the finished roster still has 4.2M in cap space?

in his last 129 games... or 3 most recent seasons.. he has 54g (.42g/p) roughly 35 g/82gp and 117 points (.91 ppg) or about 75p/82gp.

Big shot. known goal scorer, will cost you a pick that likely doesnt get you a game changing prospect + good prospect that has skating issues.
