I saw a Hans guy trading Savard for a 7th which is what I based this on. I don't really see a world where that happens though. I feel the Pens trade is good especially since Kampf is Dubas' guy.

There are lots better goalies better as UFAs cheaper than 6.4m Gibson, who don't cost anything to obtain.

Hawks decline, their dishwasher is more valuable than Reaves and probably skates as well.

Leafs should probably just buy him out but if they insist on trading Reaves, they need to send Chicago a 3rd pick as well.

Are there? One of the headlining options is the guy you're planning to let walk. Then there's Cam Talbot.

There's not even lots of NHL quality gialies this UFA class, to say nothing of starters

I like the ceiling on Gibson since we've seen it before. Who do you suggest? Id try with Brossoit I guess.

Honestly, you shouldn't feel that decent. Why on earth would Montreal gift the leafs the shutdown RD they so desperately need for free? Jump up 3 rounds on that pick and you're at least in the ballpark of "decent".

I would suggest you look again at the UFA goalies available 6.4m Gibson with a 3.54 GAA and .888 save percentage is no bargain.

Gibson hasn't been good for two years. Check the UFA goalies available this year. At least five starters better who will come cheaper and don't cost anything to obtain.

Chicago easily declines. They're not moving a 27 year old dishwasher in his prime for a 37 year old without knees making way more than he should be.

It's genuinely astonishing that any one person could think for one second that this Blues proposal was even in the same universe as a "decent trade".

That there is a city with teeming scads of people who imagine such a boldly myopic thing is distuuuurbing.

And both Lyubushkin and Benoit were both AHL quality Defenseman while on the Ducks, they get to the leafs and their stats take a big swing. Players didn't change, situation did. Stolarz had an 0.899 last season on the Ducks getting the cream puff assignments, this year he put up a 0.925. he didn't suddenly get significantly better at 30, his situation changed.

There was a lot more talent on the Ducks blue line this season, but also three rookies, lots of inexperience and a new system to learn, when we wheeled Gibson out against the top competition he took a pounding, and that shows on his raw counting stats. There's still several victories this season that we're a result of his play and his play alone, the same can't be said for Samsonov.

I suggest you look again, there aren't even 5 starters on the UFA market, there's two, one is Samsonov, the other is Talbot whom you'll be competing with half a dozen teams for. After that there's five or six backups who could be pressed into tandem duty, and then there's the rest.

Going by what is said by so many on CapFriendly, the Leafs don't have one quality NHL Dman, so really can't believe that Samsonov wasn't good or even very good for the Leafs especially since December.
Starting goalies???? Even so called back ups are starting goalies for 25 to 30 games a year. I'll disagree, there are many quality goalies available as UFAs this summer.

My friend, you guys don't want Marner with that cap hit, why would you expect anyone else to? Besides, the Blues already have a soft, overpaid, but dazzling, pond hockey player - Kyrou, and that's one too many. Parayko isn't going anywhere. The Leafs could probably move Marner for Buch if they retained salary, not the other way around. Sorry, but Duby soiled the bed with this whole core-4 thing. Good luck.

Rectification, you saw a ton of Leafs fans trading a seventh for Savard. He cost at the very least a second

Sorry, but Leafs need to include a full high end luxury stainless steel kitchen set to dump Reaves. Probably a washer and dryer too.

Chicago is happy to get paid to take Reaves, but they aren't taking him for nothing.
