I'm sorry to tell you this but Zegras is not going to get back that return. He's been having injury problems lately and has not scored true 1C numbers yet. Does he have the potential? Yes, but until that potential is on paper he's not going to get back a king's ransom.
You might get a good prospect and a 1st though, but a roster player, one of our best prospects, and our highest 1st for a guy who is currently a consistent 60 point player is way too much. Especially coming off a season he missed most of.
He had a soft tissue injury at the start of the year then got dumped into the boards and broke his ankle, it's not exactly like the majority of players wouldn't have ended up with that injury in the same situation. He's also not Dach who has missed more games than he has played and gets season ending injuries just from getting pushed into the boards. Unlucky, sure, injury prone, no.
Secondly, he did those on his rookie and sophomore seasons, there's no reason to believe he's not going to become a PPG player or better, he turned 23 last month.
Thirdly, yes, he will, because Anaheim is under no pressure to move him. We're not Chicago who was tearing down the house with Debrincat and Dach, we're not Minnesota who can't afford to keep Fiala and have to ship him off for the best offer, and we're not Winnipeg where he refuses to sign like DuBois.
If you had a true top pair RHD prospect in the system we could look at a one for one swap, but your best prospect in Bonk isn't that highly rated. So in order to acquire a guy we've got no reason, or pressure, to move costs what we deem sufficient, and that's Bonk, Philly's first this year, and one of the RW mentioned above.
