Absolutely don't get why so many of you Habs fans think these awful offers would get KJ, but none of them are close.

Oh look it's yet another Montreal fan's idea to dump Harris and get something decent in return for him!

What do you mean? This is a trade proposal tool for fun 🤣 what do you think would be a good offer from Montreal then ?

I agree there's a lot of trade that are **** and I'm bias, but what would be in your eyes something decent for KJ.

Considering that Columbus has no need to trade him and he has at least 5 more seasons until he is a UFA it's going to take an overpay to pry him out of Columbus. A top 10 pick and an A level prospect at least.

Suzuki, Caufield, or Slafkovsky for KJ+ are about the only trades that interest me from the Canadiens. The Jackets are hoping KJ turns into a top 6 winger and those are the only 3 guys that have that level of skill from the Habs that make sense to trade KJ for.

Caufield would be the starting point, for KJ and a prospect not named Jiricek, and balance a deal from there

Put down the bong.....Caufield is head and shoulders above Johnson...Caufield almost has more points this year than Johnson has in his entire career...lol

Let's be honest here Montreal trading Guhle is about as realistic as Columbus Johnson. Johnson has all the tools to become a true #1C and Guhle has all the tools to be a true #1RHD. Those are the 2 most sought after positions in todays NHL. From rosters and prospects it looks like Montreal needs a #1C more than Columbus needs a #1RHD. So if it were Guhle for Johnson Montreal would be adding but exactly how much I don't know, but with Jiricek Columbus doesn't have to make the trade so they are holding all the cards.

Let's be honest Guhle is way closer to being a true #1RHD than KJ is of being a 1C

So I'm agreeing that MTL can be delusional but asking for Guhle and a top 10 pick for a player that's showed nothing incredible + is hurt + is a draft pick from the old defunct GM + is not on the good side of his Coach is also kinda delusional

Not saying you have to trade him but let's not pretend he's still worth a 5th overall pick here.

The question was "what should we [MTL] offer"? This is the best answer. You can say Caufield isn't worth involving in a trade for for KJ ++ but you're the one who needs to put the bong down if you think Caufield isn't in the ask from CBJ

Depends on the draft year; he would still be no. 5 if 2021 was re-drafted today; 6th at worst if you like Edvinson better.

I get that caufield for KJ++ could work value wise, however Mtl needs goal scoring and we have a surplus of A-grade defense prospects.

Trading Caufield wouldn't move the needle in the right direction even if value wise it's fine. Here the goal is to fill the needs of both sides (ex: Hall for Larson)

And I understand if CBJ don't wanna go in that direction but Montreal ain't trading a quality forward that's for sure.

I'm just trying to find a fit, defense prospect for forward prospect type of deal and Guhle for KJ value wise isn't far off as we think

Guhle is already a #1 RD, but he is playing on his off side and still there. Once Matheson is gone, maybe sooner, he will be #1 LD and step up another level. Eventually Reinbacher or Mailoux will be paired with him.

Hardly; Caufield would fetch what MTL needs to contend when they are at that point in a couple of years. Maybe it's a different/ better deal, but he is one of their biggest trade chips

Caufield isn't going anywhere the Habs will use their loads of draft capital plus an abundance of young D to get more scoring.....this team is going to contend again very soon
