Trade down
So let me get this straight. Habs move down ~4 spot. In exchange they get a pick ~ 60-64 a 3rd in 2 years. Calgary allows the Habs to trade down, so they also take Harris?
No thank you!

Fellow Habs fans this is likely not enough to shed contracts you add to trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>I don't see that math here:
Anderson takes at most 2 1sts to dump
Dvorak takes 2 3rds to dump
that leaves: a 2nd, Jordan Harris, and Rohrer</div></div>
I made this in repsonse to a few proposals lately where it looks like the OP's have Anderson or Dvorak are the centre piece in a trade returning a 21 year old with tons of potential.
I look at what the Habs got for Monahan's 1 year, and think Anderson would cost a lot more than 2 1st. Maybe I put too much down to prove the point. Either way we will not get Necas for Wpg 1st, Anderson and a 3rd (or whatever I have seen thrown around)

for the record, I would just keep most of those contracts to term versus paying to dump

depending who is still on the board, this would work for the Habs. Not sure of Kraken needs.

Thanks for pointing out Vlassic is missing.
If you read next to Price and Hörnqvist - it "need 10 to finish" as in 10 players are required to finish the draft

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>Crazy how Detroit is literally gonna get every NTDP player for free cause Detroit's their favorite team</div></div>
Not really for free. If the return is a roster player, it will still be a 2nd round pick that turns into a roster player.
I find it odd that Hutson posts Red Wings reels to his stories sometimes, even a full season after being drafted by the Habs. We all know there are tons of players in the league who grew up as Habs or Leafs fans, but to show publicly your colours after being drafted will do nothing but spin the rumour mills.... which actually may be the intent.

If Hutson is refuses to sign with the Habs
Wings are his fav team, so there is a much greater chance of him signing with the wings if he decided to do another year at BU.
Risk is still there for the wings so another couple pieces added.
Not sure how these get valued, if at all - happy to take input on what would be fair.

If Carolina did not match the offer sheet
This simply takes the compensation picks as close as possible, and sends them to the Canes.
2020 1st was Guhle
2020 2nd was Mysak - who was recently traded for Perreault so I included him
2020 3rd was traded with Max Domi to CBJ for Josh Anderson, so I picked a 2021 3rd, which was traded - but they had another 3rd pick which was Kostenko.
Obviously they would have needed to be the own picks of Montreal, and the subsequent trades would not have happened.

Necas vs matheson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Canes aren’t going to move Necas for someone who would be playing 3LD for them.</div></div>
Matheson would be #1LD - you can argue him all the way to 2LD and be wrong if you want.
Also Skjei expires this season, Slavin and Orlov next season. You would be left with 1LD and a very possible 2LD or 3LD (based on Canes depth) when the other 2 are gone.
In saying that, I am not sure this trade is valued enough to get Necas.

So I'm agreeing that MTL can be delusional but asking for Guhle and a top 10 pick for a player that's showed nothing incredible + is hurt + is a draft pick from the old defunct GM + is not on the good side of his Coach is also kinda delusional
Not saying you have to trade him but let's not pretend he's still worth a 5th overall pick here.</div></div>
Guhle is already a #1 RD, but he is playing on his off side and still there. Once Matheson is gone, maybe sooner, he will be #1 LD and step up another level. Eventually Reinbacher or Mailoux will be paired with him.

I would rather this - if any. I really like the potetnial of Hutson in the NHL - but Guhle is thrown around on these board as a B or B- trade piece. He just turned 22 - and is improving daily. He is underrated by so many, and that is not saying Habs fans do not appreciate him, but he never got sent to Laval once since starting in the league as a 19 year old. He is the top pairing LD of the future - even with the stacked cupboard in the position.

Only if the Sharks win the Lottery. Hoffman and Carpenter are both off contract this year (plus the Habs do not need sub-par fwds in their 30s anyways)

Dillon will not be under contract for the 24-25 season.
Barlow and a 2nd likely does not get this done. Modification - replace Barlow with McGroarty, remove the 2nd to the Habs - and the Habs send back the Jet's first plus a 2nd, maybe another piece.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BoomerTheHero</b></div><div>Jackets easily pass. Late 1sts arent going to get it done. You have to give to get and you arent giving the same value that you are getting. MTL's 1st or a top prospect would have to be included for KJ. For Dumais you would need a similar level prospect, i doubt picks would get it done, but more than likely the team wants to keep Dumais, as teams usually believe in their prospects more than other teams do, so i doubt there would be an agreement on value.</div></div>
I probably valued Dumais lower due to the recent impaired driving charge. Montreal/Laval may not be the best destination for him anyways.

So this improves the Leafs situation by having over $67 million tied up with 6 players instead of $46.5 million tied up with 4 players??
This would leave $20 million for the remaining 17 players (anticipating $87.7 cap) - so 6 superstars and 17 plugs with aav of $1.17 million per year.
There would be a lot of 9-8 losses.
