Reunited and it feels sounnecessary
Elvis gets back together with Torts and Atkinson comes home. Neither fanbase is excited by it, but sometimes swapping problem contracts works out.

Putting the giggles in “Dr. Giggles!” This is a CBJ fantasy list for shedding unattractive contracts. I love it, but it’s a pipe dream and there’s some serious ganj in that pipe. Or in Elvis’ case, dope between the pipes.

Rebuild “again?” That’s the problem — they never tried a proper rebuild in the first place. I think they still see KJ as a big part of what’s coming.

No way for the CBJ. You can have Boqvist for a bag of pucks, but the other two for a 1st? Nah.

Awful Contracts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>This part is rather irrelevant to this trade proposal. The picks are 2024 indicating the trade takes place prior to round 1 of the 2024 draft being completed, meaning he still wouldn't have his NMC enacted.</div></div>
Perhaps that part is, but the part about CBJ wanting no part of PLD is highly relevant. Also, they are neither likely to get rid of Olivier nor give up on KJ yet. Those draft picks won’t be high 1sts so where’s the attraction?

“Just playing around” as in testing the trade machine with a sample trade? Because I’m wondering why the CBJ would ever want to do this.

MTL gets their young forward for 3rd year in a row
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ParkerD</b></div><div>And to clear this up. This would be a fresh start for Johnson who doesn't seem to be fitting in/ used right with CBJ. He seems like someone who would thrive with Marty St louis and the young core. MTL may need to add more, but I did it for fun.</div></div>
If by “used right” you mean, “in a way that doesn’t expose the shortcomings in his game that accompany his frail, not-yet-developed physique,” the CBJ are doing just that. He was also having a bit of a sophomore slump. I don’t think the Jackets are anywhere near ready to move on from him, but he’s probably still two years away from having a meaningful impact. It’s not his fault, but he’s getting leaned on by opponents who see it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>penguinswin</b></div><div>You talk about cherry picking stats!?! You just compared faceoff stats between a Center (Jenner) and a WINGER! At the end of the day you can say Skinner is overpaid and no one will argue that; however he is still a solid 30 goal scorer and that makes him SLIGHTLY overpaid. Considering what Laine & Gaudreau have produced like in CBJ they would make this trade in a heartbeat of it was offered. And they would be right and you would be wrong</div></div>
Right, to emphasize how many more things Jenner offers a team. A center > a winger. Skinner is on pace for 28, not 30. This is 2024 Skinner. Overpaid, not a 30-goal guy anymore, and end of the day you’re just…wrong.

When they’re cherry-picked and out of context? Yeah. Absolutely. Not worth the effort.
We’re not talking career numbers, we’re talking right now. Jenner on pace for 25, Skinner for 28 is pretty close. Jenner is on PP and PK. Faceoff % is ~54% Jenner to ~42% Skinner. One’s a leader, one’s not. One is way overpaid, one’s a bargain. Jackets say no and they’re right. You aren’t.

Career numbers, Goals Per Game Avg:
Jenner: 0.27
Skinner: 0.36
Over 82 games, Skinner will net 30, Jenner only 22. Skinner has 6 seasons already of 30+ Goals. Jenner has 1.
Points Per Game Avg.
Jenner: 0.51
Skinner: 0.67
Over 82 games Skinner nets 55 pts, Jenner only 42.
So yes, the cap hit was atrocious for a couple of years, but so was the coaching staff. But overall you get what you pay for. You don't pay that much for the "intangibles" that Jenner brings. These are 2 very different players with very different skill sets, and as such cap hits. If you would rather have Jenner at his cap hit that is fine. But this particular package is an overpay for Jenner. If you want a 1st for him, you are retaining salary and throwing something else in.</div></div>
You’re high.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>penguinswin</b></div><div>Yeah, no - I got it. That is not worth it for BUF. Like I said he would be a 3C and not much more offense than Krebs. Hard pass. Maybe another team would value him more if he was a 2C like Mittelstadt going to COL. But as a 3C it's a diminishd value.
As for Skinner, you're probably right, CBJ scores plenty of goals, why would they need another 30 goal scorer in their lineup? *insert whatever you want*
Jenner does far more for his team and is on pace for roughly the same number of goals as Skinner. You’re not adding “another 30-goal scorer,” you’re merely swapping a couple for each other. Oh, at roughly 1/3 the cap hit, too.</div></div>

Perhaps you misunderstand this proposal. It’s the CBJ who say “no.” Don’t need or want Skinner and Krebs isn’t a much better C option than what they have. The 1st is nice, but it’s only a start. Jenner is a captain on a great contract for a couple more years. I can almost guarantee the Jackets we’re offered a better package at the deadline and rightly spurned it.

No knock on Kyrou, but Jiricek is seen as a long-term 1st pair defenseman in Columbus and the CBJ don’t need another expensive guy until they clear more money and extend some of their young guys first. Ask again in about 18 months when we see whether or not Jiricek has improved his skating. If he hasn’t, you can have him. 😎

Insulting. CBJ don’t even pause to laugh before hanging up. Do you really think they’d give up their Captain for a Swede who’s been out of the league for 5 years and a 2nd?

You’re funny. It’s not enough for Jenner, and the salary retention is comical. Yeah, he’d be valuable to the Avs, especially in the playoffs, but you may not understand how much CBJ ownership doesn’t want to trade him and how much he doesn’t want to leave. It’s not like he’s on an expiring contract and they need to get what they can at the deadline. Hell, part of why they finally booted Jarmo was because he was merely taking calls on him.

I’m certain you’d love Jenner, but the CBJ wouldn’t want Forbort anymore than you wouldn’t want Provorov. And really, Debrusk is fine but in Columbus he’d just be blocking the kids. Jenner’s our captain. You’re not prying him away for that.
