I think Ottawa needs to worry about being in a playoff hunt before even talking about contending for a cup.

All depends on the coach. People keep underestimating the importance of a coach.

But since Ottawa can't seem to do anything right they will likely hire a washed coach who has been past around like a blund for the last ten years.

I don’t like this for the blues, we aren’t a ‘Jacob Chychrun’ away from being a contender so I’d hate to sell a promising young player and a fairly early first.

As always, this team is good enough to be a contender *on paper*.

But unfortunately on paper means nothing.

In the fantasy world where these trades happen, I'd guess you're still a bit short of contender status. I think you'd be in the if this team misses the playoffs heads are gonna roll tier.

Sens had the team to be a playoffs team this season, on paper but couldn't afford to go into the offseason with Dorion and in the season with DJ Smith. Dorion signed Korpisalo and re-signed Hamonic. Tarasenko signing was good but also brought Uselesslik

Problem is the team sale only got official in September... so it was another wasted season

7 years of Dorion, finally ended up a few months ago. Lets' give the new ownership and management a chance to prove themselves.
