In-season trades virtually never have that many parts. Contenders aren’t moving multiple roster pieces out like this.

Also Columbus passes. They’ve got plenty of mediocre goalies better than Vanecek already.

Way to many pieces. Boston is not moving Frederic.

Take out everything but Hanifin from Flames.

Take out Freddy and Shatty, add a mid prospect.

He made a comment after the Zadorov trade that part of it was he didn't have to use a retention slot. I took that to assume he meant he was planning on using them on his bigger fish.

He didn't use it on Lindholm, They've only retained on David Riitich 2 seasons ago. Calgary has made it known that they don't like retaining on players.

Avs decline. Coleman costs more which the Avs can't afford before going into anything else like age, term, fit etc.

Vanecek is worth more than a 5th. ANDERSSON is not going anywhere yet. Mangiapane just extended so not yet

Vanacek is a negative salary. Of goalies with more than 15 starts, Vanacek is 56th in the league in GSaX / 60. Not sure why you believe he has value. At minimum, he’s overpaid by 1.4m.

This deal is overly complex and I think it is going to be a simple one.

Curious to see what Don offers. Isn’t really worth talking about it right now. The most recent wisdom from Calgary fans kind of amusing me right now.

Mason Lohrei would apparently be the #4 defenseman in the Calgary system (that 3 assist game against Edmonton looked pretty nice) and Fabian Lysell isn’t worth much despite being a 21 year old producing at a high level in the AHL with some plus skill sets at the NHL level. Boston’s system is light on prospects, but those two players are legitimate prospects.

Curious to see what Don does at the trade deadline.

Vanecek is the reason the Devils will miss the playoffs this year. He has no value at all considering his cap hit and performance.

The way it sounds now…NJD and CGY had discussed a number of various return options and ultimately agreed upon Holtz for Markstrom. NJD wanted retention, CGY did not. NJD wanted Vanecek included, CGY did not.

It’s said a few places…as recently as with Pagnotta that the package includes one or two pieces from the Devils. So presumably Holtz or Holtz plus pick to cover retention.

I do not believe Devils are asking about Andersson. I do not believe Siegenthaler is included in any of this. And I do not believe this deal will include any 1st round picks.

Bruins aren't moving Frederic. He is playing some great hockey, versatile and much needed toughness that the Bruins lack and on a very nice contract.

in fairness, two of those assists were secondary assists that he didn't earn in the slightest. just nothing plays.

And one was a beautiful effort to keep the play onside and dropped the pass to Pasta with space. He looked good last night

he looked like what he's looked like the whole time - a player with huge upside that has a lot to learn, and should be in the AHL. the offensive side comes easier to him than the defensive side.

he was solid last night.
